Could someone please decipher for those of us who aren't computer engineers?

    • You beat me to it. Have no idea what the hell any of this is. Hope it helps those that do feel superior though..😜

      Hi Mikey and Tux,

Sorry for the confusion, this deal is more aimed at business or companies that require their Servers to be hosted in a highly secure and redundant environment.

We also do Web Hosting, Virtual Private Servers and IT Solutions for businesses. If you have any question please don't hesitate to contact our sales team on [email protected]

They sell "co-location" — a service that allows you to put your own computer in a slot in a datacentre run by other people.
You get 1 rack-unit worth of space (which is a standard for sizing computers). You get 0.5 amps worth of power (or 120W if you look at it that way) and 1000GB worth of downloads (to the computer you have inside the datacentre, obviously).

      • +1

        Perfect simplistic explanation Hugs.

So basically they offer a service where you can stick your own rack mount server into one of their racks and they provide power (0.5amps) internet (1TB/mth) 2 public ip addresses (so you can direct URL there via DNS for example - google.com.au = 8.8.8.8, 8.8.8.8 = ip v4 address.) and 1RU of space, (height) which is 4.5cms high and standard width/depth.

So stick your 1RU server in there and get it powered and internet access for a month for $50, point your new fart app at the server and off you go!

What total speeds do you get on average, over a month?

    Any offers for your VPS?

    • What total speeds do you get on average, over a month?

I'm not too sure what you mean by the above?

      Any offers for your VPS?

We're always offering great deals, if you pop through your requirements here or via email to [email protected] I'm more than happy to work with you on an amazing deal to suit.

      • What total speeds do you get on average, over a month?

I haven't looked at your site yet, but generally customers are asking for you to: a) provide a speedtest file b) state your network links and capacity.

Edit: After having a look, there seems to be no network information. Also mentioning 0.5 Amps might be a turn-off for some, as no other providers seem to really state this? If you absolutely must state it, then clarify the details somewhere.

  • What's the port speed on the Colo 1Gbit 100Mbit? Is it shared or dedicated?

Do you offer IPv6 at all?

    • +1

Website says 1gbit. Waiting to see if rep says what their network uplinks are.

+$10 for an extra port (2 at most)

      • Maybe it's internal network only. :P

Seriously though, pretty important thing to leave out of a main post..

        • Hi Athk,

So sorry about not providing the relevant information as we've just transitioned our network across to Micron21.

All ports provided are on a 100Mbit shared link with burstable capabilities, we also have a 10Gbit Peering port with Megaport and a 1Gbit peering port with Equinix.

Our backbone private and peering network is connected via 10Gbit links.

We most certainly do offer IPv6 Free of charge.

        • @AusNetworks:

So 100Mbit shared, whats the guaranteed speed then? What can you burst too and for how long?

Your TOS doesn't even exist - https://ausnetworks.com.au/legal.php - so I can't find any information on that.. And I also couldn't find information on the price of overages of bandwidth, what happens when you go over the advertised 1TB? Price per GB?

Technically, you could suspend a client for using 1 byte a second..

        • @athk:
          Hi Athk,

Our TOS is currently under review since the new network transition we can provide this upon request.

All price per GB is available via our product page here: https://ausnetworks.com.au/colocation.php

100Mbit is the shared port speed via our Transit port however we do have peering preference of where most our domestic traffic flows as we peer with most Tier 1 providers like Telstra, Optus and AAPT.

Our customers are satisfied with their speeds in which we upgrade our transit capabilities as needed, we're more than happy to allow you to try us out for a 14 day no obligation period.

  • The checkout process seems to indicate it's $50 P/M for the first payment only (and free setup). If this isn't the case, please improve the checkout process.

    Totals $89.95 AUD Monthly
    $50.00 AUD Total Due Today

The post also contains two coupon codes. What's up with that?

    • Hi Lukian,

I'm so sorry for the confusion, I've updated this for you now.

Please use the following code: XY9YD8DTUX

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

      • "$50.00 AUD Price Override Recurring Discount"

Okay that's better (or I missed the 'Recurring Discount' portion the first time I looked).

        • Hi Lukian,

It looks as though when the coupon code was added it didn't have the reoccurring box ticked, rest assured if this was to be overlooked we would have fixed the billing side up for your straight away.

  • We are also offering the following deal on our dedicated server range:

    AusNetworks Dedicated Server Sale
AusNetworks Pty Ltd(ausnetworks.com.au) is putting on a sale for their 8GB Dedicated Server Range for the brand new Melbourne Equinix! Sale is for a limited time only.
