And my friend laughed when I picked up 50 cents

Pay on card and save a further cent

Buy 3 at $1.47, pay $1.50 cash then rounded down to $1.45, make 2c

        • +31

My nominee for OzBargainer of the Year

        • +11

I'll need to buy 3 with how dirty I feel that I didnt think of that :(

Same here, or else it'll be another sleepless night lol

This is what a true Ozbargainer does - Buy 3 at $1.47, pay $1.45. Then return each one by one for 50c each. Net gain 5c.

        • +2

@stralya: And if you repeat this everyday for a million years you would have lived a very, very long time.

      • Split payment and put 47c on card with remainder rounded down saving 2c. Use a wish gift card to save an extra 2-3 cents. Total saving 4-5c depending on %off for gift card.

        • If you pay remainder with a coin, the machine will have to return the whole 2c back to you.

          ie. $0.02 balance
          put $1.00 coin in

subtotal $0.98 Credit .. spits your $1.00 coin back out

        • @hys: correct. A very time consuming way to save 2c

    • +4

      Be a man?

  • +7

Isn't the Aldi Unamat $1.00 for one litre?

    • +1

All supermarkets have $1 per litre washing up liquid. Whether this one is twice as strong is unsure.

      • +2

Fair point, although the laundry powder concentrates were found out to be a complete hoax so I'll stick with the $1.00 for one litre.

    Life changing deal

    • +5

I guess if you want those, stick to the Dominos & other fast food deals.
They'll change your life for sure.

      • +4

        Ha ha and shorten it!

      • +2

But if you are ordering Dominoes every day you have no dishes to wash so don't need Dishwashing Liquid ;)

  • +5

Can confirm this stuff washes dishes as well as any other dishwashing liquid I have used.

    Worth 49 cents

    • +13

Really? Choice rate it as the lowest (excluding the DIY kits). You must have very clean dishes to start with.

      https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/kitchen/dishwasher…

Relatively, the Aldi (cheap) one is ~38% better for the same price and the Aldi 'expensive' one is ~319% better.

      • The only other liquids I've used are Morning Fresh & Palmolive which are also down at the bottom of that list. Guess I don't have a good baseline to compare it with!

        • I've found imported 'Morning Fresh' to be disappointing, hard to get soapy water. Earth Choice has a pretty good unit price though it's $2 for 1L

        • +1

@Tal_Shiar: Earth Choice is utter garbage though.

Also bubbles have zero effect on cleaning efficacy other than hindering it if they're thick.

      • +1

I still support OP. Don't really see the need to neg

        • then your comment was negged for no reason by the (profanity).

      • I am somewhat a fan of choice, and I agree with your comparison, but I think you can read too much into those results. Just by the fact that people are on this site, I am guessing the priority is price per wash, and coming up with clean dishes. With the massive difference in price and bottle size/uses per bottle, you are probably always getting better value for money with a cheap 1L bottle than anything else. What would be interesting would be if they compared an overloading of a cheap detergent (which is what I see most people doing anyway) with an equivalent cost loading of a concentrate. The 2 Aldi products would be a good example, it might be twice as good but costs nearly 4 times as much and provides less than half the number of washes. By that example the second best one on choices list sucks

    • Not if it's the same as their $1 1L bottle, it doesn't. Every time I buy one by mistake (instead of Aldi), it's hopeless. I was greasy woks and cast iron frypans and it needed 2-3 times more detergent to remove the oily film.

  • Save 50 cents and its counted as a bargain?

    • +2

      Save >50% = bargain

      • +3

2 for $5 Shelf-fresh noodles. Used to be $2 per packet (full price) several weeks ago.

Gave up on Woolworths sneaking up the prices so that even 50% off is barely worthwhile and shopping at Aldi now (larger fridge fresh packs = $1.79).

    • 50% is a pretty good saving!

      • -3

Compared to what? The inflated price? Sure.
Compared to Aldi? Nope, not a saving. Not even a comparable product (choice review).

        Is it a deal? Nope.

        • +9

Alright, we'll be sure to get your approval on every deal posted from here onward.

          @Lukian,

          1. Per comment below, we'll all make sure to run deals past you first from now on so you can confirm for the Ozbargain community that they are deals. In fact, I'll email Ozbargain authorities to ask that they make you a moderator

          2. "Compared to what? The inflated price?" This logic is just stupid. Apple's RRP on the iPhone 7 plus is $1269. I think we all agree that is an inflated price. However, don't you think if Apple had it on sale one day for $634.50, that would be a deal? You don't think Ozbargainers would make it go out of stock within minutes or a few hours?

I actually happen to be in the market fora new car. I went to a few dealers, but unless they offer me greater than 50% discount on list price, I'm going to tell them 'no dice' and I'm going to tell them @Lukian sent me.

        • -2

          @jayjosephceltics:

However, don't you think if Apple had it on sale one day for $634.50, that would be a deal?

Not if a competitor had an identical phone which performed ~38% better for exactly ~$634.50 every day.

but unless they offer me greater than 50% discount on list price

I made no statement saying bargains had to be greater than 50% off to be a "deal". I was ridiculing Woolworths for sneaking up prices and making people think they're saving (up to) 50%, when in reality these products used to be cheaper and their everyday cost has been increased over time. This results in people making blind purchase decisions because they see "50% saving", instead of checking out competing products/brands.

To some people, that 50c is a ice cream at Maccas đź‘Ť

  • very good product, this is my main dish washing liquid

Best thing about this thread is now i know to buy Aldi Tandil in future, lol, cheers for that !

    • +2

yup i always forget about choice reviews. i should really spend half an hour working out the best common household products to keep buying for value for money, but meh im lazy.

i will remember the tandil though!

    • +1

Buy the 3L ones when they are on sale for $5.99. Great value.

  • I bought 6 bottles to make bubble mix for the kids.

    • i was thinking this, and i tried it once but i failed and it barely blew a bubble. my girl was dissapointed :|

      • Oh well, will find a use for it somewhere I am sure.

      • I met my last gf on the corner blowing bubbles for 50c

        • Guess she must've been into guys that looked like dogs breakfast? =p

I think there was dishwashing test from CHOICE and this homebrand came out as one of the best. Can't remember if it was the dishwashing or the spray.

  • +2

Bargain. This dish washing liquid works great in my opinion. I don't know what method Choice were using. I apply the detergent onto a sponge several times during a wash. I don't do a soapy water dunk wash.

  • Brought this item once online. This item is made in China.
Quality is not the same as the $1

    • This item is made in China.

No shit. What?. Did you want it made in Germany or something?

I saw on ACA that the Balcony Bro Tostee used the home brand washing liquid…

    • +2

      Ooooow…too soon bruh too soon.

  • -2

Heard woolies is going out of their homebrand or the select range?

    • +3

      Nope, just rebranding the ranges

  • +1

    This stuff tastes great!

  • I found I had to use far more of this product than others to get a real soapy action happening. Seemed a bit counter productive to be paying less but using far more.
But still at this price I would probably use it for something and buy a few bottles if I see any.

    • +1

Bubbles have zero effect on cleaning efficacy other than hindering it if they're thick.

  • Can this be used as carwash or would it still be too harsh?

    • +1

Never use dishwashing detergent on your cars paint. They are designed to cut through heavy grease and end up being far too harsh for clearcoats destroying it overtime. They also leave behind a terrible film behind on the paint

  • Can people buy/sell in standard price, with no middlemen anymore?

  • Can negative votes possibly be explained by Wesf@rmers trolls? I'm confused.

    • Yes.

      But no.

  • rery guh pry

  • Any ozbargainer successfully used this as laundry liquid, soap, shampoo, shaving gel or toothpaste please share your experiences.

    • +1

There's already a few comments doing just that. :)

I use this and find it just as effective as any others, including the Aldi one (and I normally rate Aldi cleaning products #1). In some cases I need slightly more of this than others, but it is still a lower cost per wash.

I tried it using one of the scourers on a handle, where you pour the liquid in the handle. Didn't care for it. But in a proper sink dunk? A+

EDIT: Whoops! I actually use the 99c 1L one, not the concentrate. The concentrate is poo.

      • I am using the woolworths $0.99 per 1L non-concentrated liquid and the cheap Aldi ones on my scourer on a handle where you pour the liquid in the handle too.
I have been washing my dishes that way for many years and this cheap washing liquid is just great for my application.
Currently using the Aldi $0.99 per 1L bottle with nothing to complain about.

  • In the UK a couple of years ago they had Tesco Value Value Shower Gel for 10p (less than 20 cents).

    • +2

….& That's a life time supply for a pom.And in roll the pom jokes.

  • Use it as mouthwash ,baby shampoo (but not no more years),car wash, dog wash, body wash , toothpaste shaving gel, personal lube and it's lemony fresh too

  • How this compare to 1L for .99 cents?
