Best Ultrabook for a Price Range of 1-1.5k

Hi all,

Just needed some input as I'm tossing between a few Ultrabooks ATM, I have a price range of about 1-1.5k comfortably. But I am willing to go up to 2k if it's amazing. Will also consider upgrading the base ones. I am currently looking at the Dell XPS 13 at about $999, Razor Stealth at around $999 as well, Lenovo Yogabook it got too expensive, HP Spectre

If you have any other suggestions, let me know, otherwise if you guys have got any input of how these guys run, please share your experiences, thanks!

Overall it looks like the Razor comes out on top with an i7 processor, best res and good ram.

However, have you guys seen that bezel (or lack thereof) in the XPS god damn!

Also any deals on them would be appreciated, I am aware of the dell 5% off plus 4% cashback. brings the price down nicely.

Edit: should probs clarify I'm a uni student, so mostly everyday use, I do like to play games, however, not a requirement, none of the ultrabooks really have a designated graphics card for it anyway.

    Check out Zenbook 3 UX390 just came out, but it's $2200 to $2700 :)

  • The Stealth is the best value for money. The XPS has that stupid coil whine issue

  • +1

Where are you able to get the Razor Stealth and XPS13 for $999?

I was tossing up between the same ones you were. Dev stuff requires more processing power (so rules out M core processors) and 16gb of ram is HIGHLY preferred.

Reasons why I didn't go with Yoga (7th gen) is because it the lost card reader and orange colour!

I really wanted the Razor Blade Stealth but I knew I wouldn't use it for actual gaming (Core + GPU) very much.

So XPS will win out when a good deal comes up.

Asus Zenbook has 16gb is nice too if you're not in a hurry.

But HP Spectre… friends don't let friends buy HP.

    Here's my spreadsheet

    • I dont need any laptop. But +1 for your hard work, very thorough spreadsheet.

  • Thanks for the spreadsheet, interesting read

Whats the point of the Best Price (intl AUD column? We can't buy from overseas and ship here can we? And theres the issue of plug type

    • I carry my laptop everywhere so lightweight is highly desirable.
The problem with that is that manufacturers seem to think Australians don't want that, so their lightweight laptops aren't available here.

Because of that, I have to buy overseas. Plug types aren't an issue, you can buy power adapters anywhere.

  • Where is an XPS 13 for $999?

  • Any sub $1000 options?
