Which Q4 2016 Mobile if Price Is Not an Issue?

This is not true ozbargain question given price is not an issue, but I thought I'd ask anyway

I travel a lot, and my new corporate Telstra contract means I can pick any phone.
Annoyingly, choosing a cheaper phone does not give you credit to apply to say accessories, even if they are pricey. So if you were me, what would you pick between

  • GALAXY S7 EDGE (I think it is 32GB + expansion slot)
  • HTC 10
  • PIXEL 128GB
  • PIXEL XL 128GB
  • Iphone 7 256GB
  • Iphone 7 PLUS 256GB

I used a Galaxy Note 5 till now. I am leaning towards a smaller screen, but not small. Hence appeal of the S7 Edge, but it is already 8 months old. Heavy users of email, chat, office docs view, Google Now and Camera (kids + whiteboards)

Thx

Falcon SuperNova Pink Diamond iPhone 7

  • My 2 and a half year old oneplus one has a better battery and more ram than the latest iPhone. Whilst it may not run as fast it definitely won't die in the butt as much as the iPhone will with future updates. I'd go the Samsung galaxy s7 edge or wait until April to get the s8 edge and hope it doesn't explode. The pixel also looks quite good.

    • Apparently the audio quality on that phone during a call is so bad. Surely you realize that?

      • Nope.. I have never noticed this. Maybe the microphone is horrific? But this doesn't affect me and once again I don't notice..

Definitely get the iPhone, it's worth the most. Even if you don't' want it, just sell it and then get the S7 edge and make money!

    • Oh boy….

This comment represents the IQ level of an average iphone user.

      • I'm not an iPhone user, i prefer the Pixel, but the iPhone is worth more so you could buy it and sell it

iphone is no good as you say you use google Now, you want an android so it works properly. Get the Pixel XL with the new digital assistant.
I have also read that the pixel has the best camera , better than iphone/galaxy7.

iPhone or pixel if you got the coin. S7 is nice but its about 1/2way into its flagship cycle (though they do discount over time, but you say price isnt a factor).

iPhones will hold their value as they appeal to a wider audience but you get a little more features (unpolished or otherwise) with android. I do like their speech recognition and text prediction a little better then iOS.

    • ^^^—— very much where I see it going to

Edge is now 8 months into cycle but still a very impressive phone…

  • Where is the V20 and Mate 9? I'd go for these two…

I have to go s7 edge because of the water proofing.

If the Pixel had any proofing then that would be it.

    • I hear ya. I just bought my wife a mi5s as I destroyed her beloved Nexus 5 in a frw mm of water

    • a few tests so far seems to suggest it does actually have a reasonable protection against water immersion…

New reports coming from reddit say they are susceptible to lens flare or haloing. So its a definite s7 edge for me.

Oh and even though they can take a drink that pixle in water test was silly if the device dose not bare the IP rating it shouldnt go for a drink.

  • Recent test suggests the Australian iPhone 7 could have a performance issue in weak signal areas

I went with the top vote and got the pixel XL 128GB

The voice assistant did it for me in the end.

    • i hear the camera is the best ever in a smartphone, are u enjoying it?

      • It is very good. Haven't used it much
I think I prefer the Galaxy Edge camera and view of the photoes to be honest which isn't in contention! (Maybe saturation / focus is just that bit easier)

Loving the google assistant and clean android.

        • thats probably the samsung phone's screen, they set it up so that their amoled screen has more lively colour ("boosted"), whereas the pixel amoled screen is calibrated to look more "accurate". Clean stock android is so fast though eh

        • @nathan-drake:
          Agree with both statements

Pixel been fun so far. Does what it needs to do. Bought my wife a Xiaomi mi5s. Will be Interesting to Compare.

        • @grang: i personally use a xiaomi, fantastic value although their cameras are just average. and the software has some little niggles but i can deal with them
