New Marriott Rewards members can earn 2,000 Marriott Rewards bonus points per stay, up to 5 stays when signing up through a referral.
That's 10,000 bonus points in addition to the base points earnt from a stay.

You can then use your points for rewards – from free nights and flights to refreshing treats. A free night can be booked for atleast 7,500 points but is based on hotel categories

  Marriott has bought SPG so if you link both reward programs you can transfer points for free. Personally I prefer SPG points because you can transfer from amex points and you can also transfer to American airline for further bonus points. Use AA to book flights on Qantas as it's cheaper and pay less tax.
  It's difficult to earn Marriott points outside USA.
