  • Note: Due to the insufficient protection offered by the original packaging of this product, we have made the decision
to replace it with our own foam packaging.

As a guess, I think the seal on the box is broken. If so and being from banggood, could be risky.

I think this is their standard MO for a lot of products like this.

Is the box still sealed though?

Sounds like they could be sending out refurbished units.

        • No i think you don't get the box and they use the soft foam packing instead. I'm pretty sure a tablet i bought maybe 3 years ago from these guys came like that and it was fine.

        • @halfnhalf71:
Seems dodgy. Why not just put another box around the sealed box if you're not selling refurbs and are worried about packaging?

@salem: No idea. Seems logical but maybe they are trying to reduce weight for shipping?

        • Sealed with tape.

        • True and as they are not in Aus, they dont have to declare it and can sell like new. Pretty risky if you ask me.

    • I have bought tablets repackaged in styrofoam boxes from them before.

The way they pack it is attrocious. That tablet is going to be moving around. The box is not custom fitted for the tablet.

And the statement about insufficient protection of original packaging is horse crap. The tablet won't move around in the box. They'd only have to pack it in a bigger box with some packaging material and it will be sufficient.

It's likely they bought them in bulk without packaging for cheaper price.

    • As halfnhalf71 said, it's pretty standard for them.
I got my Chuwi Hi12 this way, and it was absolutely new.

  • Review said no gps?
If they put 3gb ram I might buy one.

I believe none of the intel tablets have gps.

Same screen as ipad mini apparently. If only it had a mini sd card slot like the previous model.

  • Have a 16GB Pad 2 with Android, quite solid have to say. A little bit heavy consider the screen size and some apps I feel drain battery pretty fast like Kingdom Rush not sure if anything to do with Intel CPU.

  • If this had received any updates it would be sweet…

Also note it will have a "vendor" rom, which has adware. Make sure to flash the official rom when (if) you get it

  • No GPS…. crazy

16GB version Original box is selling for $196.58 shipped after 20% off coupon 98d6ec. If only this had an SD Slot I would have bought 2.

    • Not recommended… you will not have enough memory for android apps let alone it can dual boot into windows.

  • Received mi (hehe) device yesterday after ordering on the 24th October so not too bad delivery time from Banggood.

Despite the warning about non-original packaging it arrived in what appeared to be the original Xiaomi box surrounded by one of those air filled pouches.
As above this comes with a vendor ROM with Google apps preinstalled but other vendor ROMs have been known to also contain adware (I didn't experience any on this device before I flashed it to the MIUI8 developer ROM). Had quite a bit of trouble getting Google Apps installed after that though even following a few different guides on the MIUI forums, ended up flashing a modded ROM with preinstalled GApps, rooted, etc, etc and working well now).

Tl;dr maybe wait and see if any adware appears before flashing the Chinese ROMs without GApps if you aren't willing to tinker with it a fair bit.

    • Fast! Still waiting mine. Slow…
