    Does android even need antivirus?

    • My understanding is you only need it if you side load apps

Android is currently the worlds most exploited operating system with zero hope on the horizon of escaping that tag.

57% of Android handsets are vulnerable to the most popular exploit kit which currently uses exploits that are more than 2 years old.

Google Play has a long, awful history of malicious software being uploaded to it (and hosted for months and years) because Google doesn't give a shit about security unless it aids their own data collection about your activities and hence makes money. So for example while they could care less about Google Play being malware free they'll happily maintain a list of compromised websites because in order to check what your viewing you have to send the address of every page you look at.

        Thanks Dad

      • And will this app help with that at all?

The only thing that will fix what you describe are regular monthly security updates from manufacturers.

In this day and age where long battery life is a dream on today's smartphones, installing an antivirus software on an Android device is a surefire way to ensure that you run out of juice before the end of the day.
