  • I love this mouse! Most definitely the best mouse I've ever used. I'd love to grab a second one cheap but alas I am in Melbourne.

Agreed but the down side is USB bigger than M950 & shorten battery life after 1 yr.

      • what arrogant bum voted you down… very valid points +1

        • So if you had a choice between an old MX off ebay or the new m950 for $64 from Dell…would you get the MX still? that's my dilemma :D

  • Isn't the MX 1100 better?

      i prefer revolution :P

      looks more sexy

        Another vote for the revolution

  • the MX1100 is pretty similar with the same scroll wheel but it runs on AAs

    • The scroll wheel is different.

The MX changes from click to click to free spin automatically

The 1100 requires you to press a mechanical button.

About the batteries, this is my experience with an older logitech rechargeable mouse, but YMMV.

My Logitech rechargeable mouse had "special" Logitech batteries that died, and I couldn't find a shop that stocked them when they died after 12 months. I managed to split the battery pack apart as it was obvious it was just two AA's that were NiMH with a special caddy bit that was glued between the two batteries and presses a little button up inside the mouse. It would run off standard batteries but not recharge. I replaced the logitech batteries with Duracell NiMH 2650 mAh ones, making sure I stuck the caddy bit back in between, and it's worked really well. I would be cautious about replacing with Lithium or NiCads - stick with the type it was using already, but I thought upping the mAh rating was OK.

I had to be gentle to not break the caddy when separating the batteries from it. The internal button the caddy presses in is to stop it charging when the batteries aren't Logitech's $$$ ones (pessimistic view), but also I think it's a safety thing (optimistic view) so you only use rechargeables and don't blow the thing up. The caddy wasn't pressing the internal button properly after a while of the new batteries so I stuck a bit of folded paper and tape over it to make sure. Works beautifully!

Your mouse probably had a 3 year warranty.

yeah but does logitech cover the battery for 3 yrs???

    • I found on Wikipedia that this model takes a completely non-standard battery.

      See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logitech_MX_Revolution

And here's the picture link from the G7 article

      • Yes, it is a lithium battery.

My original MX is over 2 years old and even with very heavy use the battery still lasts about 10 days

        • what was the battery life when you first got the mx?

          • @kimmik: I dont remember now, I have had it too long.

I would guess it originally lasted about 14 days

  • Apparently there is a separate charging problem with this model, but this guy on YouTube talks about fixing it with resistors and a soldering iron. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vsb4KezDcM

There are lots of other videos on YouTube about the charging problems with this model!

    • I have 2 MX's and neither have such a problem.

  • I had one and loved it to bits, I'd still be using it but the wireless screwed up in it, so I took it back.

I never had any charging problems with it, and this was about two years ago I was using it.

  • I really like the look of this mouse, the 950 dell is selling just doesn't have enough buttons..
oh why oh why can you not deliver :(

    • I think this mouse is actually much batter than the 950

Dont expect the MX to be around much longer, it has been discontinued by logitech

  • I had the charging problem on my MX Rev. It can be fixed by disassembling and cleaning all the battery contacts inside the mouse. There is no need to modify anything.

The battery is a block Li-Ion 600mAh. I just bought a genuine replacement one from the US via eBay for US$16 delivered. Some of the guides on the internet that show the battery having leads and a plug are incorrect, or a really old model.

What do you clean it with?
