Best Place to Buy Dried Mango in Sydney

Need to buy quite a bit of dried mango (a large retail quantity, not wholesale quantity) and am just wondering if anyone knows of any good places to get dried mango (preferably Philippines type) in Sydney.

Coles and Woolworths sell them at about $40 per kg and they are rarely discounted (not even 10%, 20% off).

  • Daiso has packs of dried mango. $2.80 each.

    • Any idea how many grams per pack? I seem to remember that the ones in Daiso are a lot smaller than the ones sold at Coles or Woolworths.

      • 80g

        • thanks

that makes it $35/kg, which is slightly better than Coles' and Woolworths' price

  • There is a wholesaler in Auburn if you're nearby. They sell to the public & I'm fairly sure they'd have dried mango. Can't recall their name, its on cnr Hampstead and Highgate.

    • Thanks but unfortunately that might be a bit too far for me. I'll bare that in mind for when I go over there though.

      • what about eastwood, burwood, stratfield or Cabramatta? There are a lot of asian foodstores there. However I don't think any of them supply commercially and are fairly small businesses.

Cabra I haven't been to in a while, but it's chock full of vietnamese vendors. You should be able to buy dried mango at a fraction of Woolies price.

        • I'll definitely be checking out Asian grocers that I come across from now on.

However, from memory, they weren't that cheap in the few places that I had looked in the past (although I have to admit that's probably a very small sample size).

  • Costco or Blacktown or Rooty hill Asian markets.

Fresh food rooty hill near station.

    • Thanks but these places are definitely too far for me.

      • Well even the local Asian marts in Hornsby and Chatswood have it. Which suburb are you at anyway

        • I'll have a look in Chatswood when I go there next. (I don't go there very often though.)

I'm in lower north shore but I tend to go into the city, the Eastern suburbs and inner west more often than travelling within the lower north shore.

        • @Love a bargain:

theres a place in artarmon on carlotta st called oriental continental food wholesalers. i haven't been in there in a few years since i worked nearby but pretty sure they had nuts and dried fruits there. they do sell to the public

        • @terminal2k:
Thanks. I'll pay them a visit.

  • 7D brand (product of Phillipines) is quite nice and can be found in Asian supermarkets/grocers as well as some 'Adam's Apple' stores - but I haven't seen them sold in wholesale quantities.

    • Not looking for wholesale quantities. Just a large retail quantity from time to time for someone who really loves them. Hence, trying to seek out the best price possible.

      • I think the largest pack serving I have seen is ~350g for 7D.

        • +1

700g in Costco, although there is only 80% ish chance they are selling it on a particular day

    • This one in Daiso is 7D
