  • need to get 2x single mattress's for my two young boys who are going into a bunk bed shortly (4yrs and 2 yrs old)
Any suggestions? Cheap/mid priced one from ikea? One of these lazybed ones? Do kids care if its memory foam? Anyone of them better for áccidents'overnight? Cheers

Bought what I considered to be low-mid range mattresses for my 2 kids (same age as yours) at $400 a pop.
Could not stop kids from jumping on beds so subsequently, after 2years, springs are shot .
I replaced it with a Lazybed as it was cheaper than the others back in July (Similar price: $350 ($650 - $300) at launch.

Kids seem to sleep fine. The only complaint from them is that it is not as bouncy as the spring mattress. I concur.
Wifey dislikes bed as she considers it too firm, I'm not as fussy. Maybe I'm more sleep deprived.
That being said, no aches and pains when I wake up on one

The only negative is that it took a week to air out the chemical smell.

Can't really comment what it is doing to their backs and spine.
I found the current special as I am currently looking at buying a double bed for the spare bedroom
Hoping to get a free pillow from them at the end of the year for the +ve comment I left on their site.

Eldest wet herself for the 1st time in yonks. It was soo much that it went through the "waterproof" mattress protector. Maybe it's old and has been washed too many times.
I panicked being foam mattresses. Luckily the cover they supply is also waterproof. It held.
Slipped off and washed. Very happy and very impressed that it did not soak into the actual foam itself.

      Hope that helps

Would also like to add that it's awesome for changing sheets as it's so light.

      • Thanks StevieRay, thats a big help. Im in two minds about getting something like this or just going a $150-199 ikea one that will survive 3-4 years of wee, vomit, spilt bottles of water, jumping on the bed etc and then get another. Will see. Id read that the smell can be pretty ordinary for a while.

Yea. That was what I was thinking for mine.
Buy a cheap first bed, then get a decent one when they grow out of accidents and jumping.

Wee, Vomit, Spilt Drinks can be contained by waterproof sheet. Although why they do not waterproof the sides is beyond me.
If you do have issues with bed wetting, I recommend a brolly sheet. Saves having to change everything.

          Springs are another issue.

Reason why I jumped on the bandwagon and went foam

    • I purchased a lazybed mattress and thought it was way too firm and got very hot being foam (less breathable).
I also noticed just after a month the areas which you sleep in did get significantly softer and questioned it's longetivity.
I got a full refund within the trial period and purchased a Marce Blanc mattress from eBay for less than half the price and couldn't be happier.
There is still a long running eBay promo to get 10% off - C10AUZ.
The mattress gets alot of great reviews

      http://www.productreview.com.au/p/marce-blanc-mattress.html

      • I bought this Marce Blanc brand on eBay and am using it for more than 6 months
it get significantly softer and sank in, not recommending it……

don't trust all the reviews….including companies in this post!

  • Does anyone have feedback on the different brands ?

    • +3

Why don't you try them all out over a period of 2years
Sleep on a new mattress every 3 months with their 100-125 day, no q's asked, return policy.

    • Ergoflex is good. They try to match Tempur for specs, which is the gold standard in memory foam. I'm impressed with the one I bought.

    • +1

I can vouch for koala, much more comfortable than the sleepmaker mattress we used to have

  • i am using sleeping duck from past 6 months and its good.

  • Oh man this again. I was researching these a few months ago on what's the differences and gave up.
Is there an independent review of all these brands.

I know they have a 120 day return but I want to read a comparison first and then trial

  • This has finally motivated me to replace my 10 year old matress finally. Although damn, so much choice and lingo.. BTW the code for Ecosa is EC250, not ECO250 :)

    • Thanks =P

Which did you end up choosing?

Although Lazybed says it expires today…. it still works.
Live up to their own name I guess

      • +1

I'm still trying to choose!!! Haha. It's hard, they all seem really good so I guess it's just coming down to price. I would have liked to get the Ergoflex but they only offer a 30 night sleep trial which I don't think is long enough really, if it was 90 days of so that would be fine but most of the other online stores recommend at least 30 nights to get use to a new mattress.

Too much choice can definitely be a bad thing sometimes.

Koala is actually $200 off at the moment with the code FREAKFRI which is listed in another post.

Have a LazyBed at the moment which is fine, but keen to try another one. The Koala discount quenched the deal for me! Mattress to be delivered tomorrow morning.

    • Yea. I was more focussed on Lazybed being the cheaper option, even with the extra $100 off Koala
Keen to know how you compare the 2.

    • +1

      code FREAKFRI no longer work.

  • Which one is more firmer? I want a really firm bed.

    • My wife considers the lazybed to be "firm / downright hard".

My thoughts are since they are foam, you are always going to sink/mold into bed, so it may have to do with the density.

According to the wiki, Ergoflex has the highest out of the lot.

  • I dont know which one to buy! tearing my head reading reviews

    • So i finally decide on the koala & it says the code is expired! just not my day FREAKFRI

spoke to them: now best they can do is SPOOKSUN 150 off

      • Do it. Koala has been the best thing ever for us.

        • But lazybed is only $350 single. And people were saying koala is not 3 layer anymore only 2 like lazy bed so decided to give it a try
