Got an interesting email a few days ago about my Coles Reloadable Mastercard:

    Dear drsmithy,

Thank you for purchasing a Coles Reloadable MasterCard.

Due to recent account activity, all of your Coles Reloadable MasterCards and any Coles Gift MasterCards linked to your card number ending in 1234 have been temporarily restricted or closed, or subject to increased monitoring until we receive some further information from you.

In order to have your card reinstated, you will need to provide us with the following documents:

    1. A certified copy of your Australian drivers licence, Australian passport or proof of age card (with photo) issued by an Australian state or territory.
    2. A certified copy of a recent statement (within the last 6 months) of the Australian bank account or debit card which you used to load funds onto your card. If this is not your account, you will also need to provide to us written confirmation from the account owner that they have authorised the funds to be credited to your card.

The documents will need to be certified by an Australian Justice of the Peace or Commissioner for Declarations, or an Australian legal practitioner.

Once certified, please return the documents to us at:

    · Post to: PO Box 523, TOOWONG QLD 4066

If you do not return the documents to us within 10 days of the date of this letter, your cards will be closed.

We apologise for the inconvenience, however be assured that we take these measures to ensure the security of your funds.

    Regards,

Coles Prepaid Cards Customer Support Centre

    email [email protected] web colesprepaidcards.com.au

Interestingly, this arrived two weeks after the last activity on the card (ie: last load from a VPAY voucher).
Subsequently sent them a copy of my license and the receipt used to purchase the VPAYs and they have reinstated the card.

    • Did you have the documents certified by a JP? Did send in the information about the origin of the vpay purchases? ie original AMEX statements?

      • Yes, I had the photocopies of my license and the HN receipt signed by a JP (we have several here at work so it's not inconvenient to do so).

I didn't include the AMEX statements or give any indication how they were purchased. I did think about doing that to pre-empt any additional requests but ultimately decided "fcuk 'em, they have no reason to know".

This is the letter I included:

        Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Coles Reloadable MasterCard account ending in 1234.
Please find attached a JP-certified copy of my driver’s license.
The Coles Prepaid Mastercard was loaded from VPAY gift cards (https://www.vpay.com.au/). I have included a JP-certified copy of the receipt from their original purchase.
Please advise ASAP if you required more information, and why. If you decide to close the card, please advise how my funds will be returned.
        Regards,
        drsmithy

        • Hmmmm lucky! I used 9 vpay cards i spoke to them on the phone and they said I need to provide proof of the vpay purcahse and if it's a gift card show the amex transactions. Ive blanked out all other info and already done this, probably about 30pages. Such a pain!! Going to a JP today.

          arghhhhhhh

        • @Turd:

Still have three registered AMEXes to take the HN and get VPAYs - just been too busy (and waiting for the store drones to forget about complaining about AMEXes), so we'll see if they ask again when I load up with those. Might just load and withdraw before they have the chance, if it takes a fortnight for them to notice !

        • @drsmithy: Yeah same here I got another 5 to do! But Yeah PITA!!!

For free money it's not bad I guess.

Does the JP need to sign every single page? Even blank pages of credit card statements? poor JP!! LOL

        • @Turd:

Does the JP need to sign every single page? Even blank pages of credit card statements? poor JP!! LOL

Don't know. I just had two sheets of paper. One with a photocopy of both sides of my license and one with a photocopy of the receipt. The JP signed both sheets.

If you're sending them credit card statements, I'd say only include the first page (with the account details) and the specific pages that have the relevant transactions on them. Have the JP sign all pages. That's why I've done in the past whenever proof of purchase or similar has been asked for.

        • @drsmithy: hmmm I see ok thanks!

        • @Turd: Which Sydney HN store are you buying VPay?

Gordon and Moore Park are refusing to sell giftcard and VPAY using amex card.

          Wiley Park doesn't sell VPAY.

        • +1

@drsmithy: Got my card unblocked today! Woohoo.. After getting 20 documents JP'ed (poor old lady), I donated $10 to the cancer council charity box she had there. Spend another $10 on postage express post.

Ahhh… $700 minus fees.. Not bad I guess!!

        • @BellaWii: Think all HN do not sell vpay now. Pretty stupid IMO.

I got my vpay long time ago, on the 1st day of this thread post before all this commotion. Gordon and Moore Park

        • @Turd: Remember that Telstra ad "I've been everywhere man!" ?
That's what I feel like. Went to HN Belrose to try my luck and they do sell VPay GC.
The guy knew about the amex offer, did not comment on GC being excluded, was happy to serve me and when I questioned the bottom of the receipt where it states "Domayne AV/IT" he said it was ok and I would get the credit. Fingers crossed!

        • @BellaWii: you won't get credit. Sorry!

        • @BellaWii: I would be surprised if you get the credit.

        • @spk: The bastard! It will be a well learnt lesson for next year's HN/Amex offers.

        • @BellaWii: was it a domayne or a harvey norman you went into?

        • @dealsniper: Walked into a Domayne and inside was a HN store.

        • @BellaWii: depends on which terminal you purchased

        • @spk: Bought at the HN checkout register however at the bottom of the receipt it says "Domayne AV/IT".

        • @BellaWii: wat does it show on Amex under penning transactions ?

        • @spk: ANZ doesn't show "pending transactions" like CBA so I'm still waiting for the transaction to appear.

    • I have heard the negative stories about this card before. It is issued by Indue.

      To aviod trouble,
I advise you only load one Vpay voucher($300) when you need cash and withdraw it as soon as possible(clear the balance). In addition,do it over the weekend.Don't think they will be that dutiful. When balance is zero, they will not bother to question you.

    • I tried to take money out on mine and it got declined due to "exceeding your withdrawal frequency limit". I only ever made one withdrawal and that was about 2 weeks ago.

      • Isn't it $300 per day?

        • That may have been the problem as I was trying to take out more than that. On the screen the message was over limit, but on the receipt the message was frequency limit.

  • I have used the card since . So my current balance was about $500 before loading the last vpay voucher . I am wondering if Coles reloadable mastercard have stopped accepting vpay at a valid payment method . I just used the vpay voucher to pay for an electricity bill instead . I am just more interested to know the impact of using vpay and reloadable MasterCard for the future .

    • +1

I would recommend not to use vpay with reloadable MasterCard to avoid your card being blocked.

    • When did you try to use this 4th vpay voucher?

Also tip - to keep the comment chain going, reply to the comment that was replying to your initial comment (i.e. this one)

  • Has anyone made seperate HN purchases on different days totalling $300 and gotten the cash back without fuss?

    • +1

      yes
I have done two online transactions- $199 + $105 with one card
      received credits without issues

I have done a online transaction for $97 day before yesterday and $205 in store purchase yesterday
      waiting on the credits

  • +2

Why you guys still bother to buy gift cards or vpay at HN, save your money and shop somewhere else. I don't buy anything at HN even they agree to sell me the gift cards, they are so rude and seem don't need the customers, the HN gift cards can only use at HN, why don't they sell to their customers? No brain business.

    • +3

      agree
but 33.33% via credit card is too good to resist.
Also, you can stack up with other offers, or Price match any other competitor and can still claim TRS(if you fly overseas)

    • because they are franchises. if you use the gift card at a different location the store which sold the card loses out.

      • Ah interesting.. do they really lose out though? I don't know the background/details at all but I'd imagine it wouldn't make sense to sell gift cards at all if the selling store actually loses out..

        • When you buy a HN gift card you become an unsecured credtor of HN (as in the Borders / Angus & Robertson/ Dick Smith gift card episodes). When you redeem the card HN can book the value as revenue against product(s) purchased. Until you redeem it, the value is classified as a liability. So technically the store that sold the gift card just processes your unsecured loan to HN. Unless you spend the gift card at their store there is no benefit to them, in terms of sales revenue.

        • @spacecowboy: Wouldn't they get a cut for putting it through, same as any other company selling gift cards (ie. RACV, Woolworths etc.)

Also wouldn't the $100 credit be funded by head office since it is their promotion rather than the franchise.

Only someone with inside knowledge of the franchise agreement would know, anything else is speculation.

        • @JIMB0: There is ~4% merchant fee the store is charged every time a customer pays with Amex

        • +4

@spacecowboy: No way HN would pay 4% merchant fees on AMEX - possibly the little corner store, HN would have negotiated a much lower fee with AMEX

        • @bauser99: Alot of retail businesses add Amex surcharge, or don't accept it all due to their high merchant fees.

JB Hifi charges customers a 2.65% surcharge for Amex. HN would be on similar terms to JB I expect.

    • We made $500 in this promo buying $300 Vpay vouchers at HN. Very happy to particpate in the deal. The easiest $500 we made all year on OZB. Okay some of the HN staff can be surly, but I was still happy with this deal.

  • anyone successful in getting bpay or gift cards recently (last couple of days?) and which store? thanks :)

    • -1

you can pm me if you don't want to name the store here

      • Bought a gift card from Wiley Park yesterday. Got the usual spiel about GC are excluded from the Amex promotion. They don't sell VPay.

I also want to know which Sydney store is allowing purchase of VPay with amex card.

Gordon and Moore Park are refusing to sell GC and VPay with amex cards.

        • Auburn refused too, you can try Campbelltown they are selling GC with Amex, didn't try vpay though.

        • @Shansharma: why? and visa or MasterCard is ok?

          racist much towards amex?

just be coz it has American in it?

  • I tried to load my first vpay to the Coles card, it failed.

    Anyone else?

    • +1

loaded heaps before but now i think they have have blocked it… boo

    • +1

Yep pretty sure it's blocked now.

    • +1

Just use it to pay electricity, water, phone bills.

      • I spent some vpays on Wish gift cards via cashrewards for extra 5% discount, after paying the utility bills with the first ones.

      • Yeah I guess so..

What is the best way to make sure all balance is used up?

        Wish gift card I guess?

      • Can anyone advise say if your vPay has like $2.37. Assuming you can't find anything to buy for equal or less than that amount, how do you take it out?

        • Pay Vodafone bill for 2.37

        • @Turd: vodafone let you split payment?

        • @huythanhv2: yes, u can pay any amount u wish

        • @Turd: that's good to know. Time to stock up vPay then.

        • @huythanhv2: good luck finding them , or allowing paying via amex, but visa, master and diners card is ok lol

  • Why are their xbox one s bundles price higher then microsoft store!!

    Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

    $997 EA

good if you have multiple cards.

  • -1

Can anyone confirm if I can use HN gift card to buy VPay ?

    • +1

      Not anymore

  • Has anyone recently bought visa prepaid cards at Harvey Norman with this offer? Was told at a HN today that Amex has cancelled this deal?!?

    • Just ignore them, don't listen to the monkeys at HN. They were taught to tell us the misleading information.

      • That's disgusting.

  • So what's the best gift card to get besides HN gift card? Called Harvey Norman Chadstone and they said they don't accept AMEX payment for vPay anymore.

    • Replied you below

  • Pretty sure they do. I went to HN Nunawading where the lady just flat out lied to me that AMEX had cancelled the offer but she could put it through if I wanted, but I couldn't refund it.

    • Haha well doesn't matter then. You can just make a purchase anyway and you'll get the credit

    • may be they meant enrolment is ended

    • Thanks I'll try tomorrow. When did you purchase the vPay?

Did you purhase the virtual visa card or vPay? Sorry not sure if they are the same.

  • I've got some HN gift cards. Trying to check the balance but their system isn't able to check it? Does anyone have a gift card that they can check the balance for?

    • Oops, we've run into some trouble while confirming your gift card. Please try again later.

      Looks their system is down

      • Thanks it worked shortly after.

  • Can anyone please confirm that you can no longer reload coles prepaid card with VPAY? My situation is a little different in that I bought those "Visa" cards from Coles ($100 + $5.95 fee) using the Westfield amex promotion - can these cards be used to reload the Coles prepaid card?

    • I haven't been able to load coles reloadable mc with vpay. I get transaction declined message.

    • No,these are issued by Indue, which is the issuer of Reloadable Coles MC.It might work with a different issuer.

      • It won't work, financial companies are smart and can detect it now. Coles were just dumb and allowed it in their system until the influx of vpay Gerry Harvey profesionals

        • has anyone that got blocked and sent their id to Indue to get their Reloadable Coles MC unblocked try to top it up once again with vpay? also can you increase the daily $300 atm limit? are westpac atms fee free to use the Reloadable Coles MC?

        • @coolsteps: Yes, Yes, No idea, read the PDS.

        • @coolsteps:

Have tried to top up again since being unblocked. Can't do it.

Don't know whether you can increase the daily $300 limit but I imagine the answer's no.

          Westpac ATMs are free.

  • has anyone tried to top up their qantas or velocity visa debit wallet cards with vpay then top up their Reloadable Coles MC and take cash out at atm? i wonder if you would earn qantas ff points too? i think qantas charge a 1% instant fee for the load but it may be an option to get around the problem.

  • How long did anyone have to wait until the credit from Amex comes in after the day of transaction?

    • 2-4 days

  • Went to HN store today to check Vpay. Not found, but found Visa Card with $5.95 fee. Took it to The counter and paid. The register asked where I got from and she took The whole lot and hide them on The desk. She said they no longer sell it. I asked why, she said a lot of people doing dodgy stuff. What dodgy stuff ? You know people stole someones cc and buy The vc with $100 limit and Just tap. Oic. I don't know whether she is being truthfully told or she didn't give out info to me. Well, My lucky last then.

    • +1

      Which store?

    • So you paid for it.HN must have new stock of VISA prepaid cards now!

      • Yes, but they hide them now

    • They still had some on the gift card rack at my local HN at start of this promo but the expiry date was Oct 2016 :( - expired. Others reported same expiry month on these cards in other stores. Amazed you found some that aren't past expiry date. I bought multiple vpays as seem the only prepaid Visa option stocked at HN now.

    • +1

HN staff are a buch of morons. The stolen cc cannot be loaded into Apply Pay or Android wallets, they verify every pieces of information and sms to confirm the information, the real card holder will be informed immediately from the bank.

    • Yes, I also saw there were many epay visa cards at my local store but didn't bother to buy any because I don't want to be looked suspiciously by HN staff when using my own money.

      • +1

Good news everyone, bought the VPay GC last Friday at HN Belrose and today got the $100 credit on my statement.

The HN is inside the Domayne store and on the receipt it says "Domayne AV/IT" so there was doubt as to whether the credit would come through. But doubt no more.

        • Did you contact them manually or it was auto?

        • @Turd: Didn't contact Amex, credit came through automatically.

        • @BellaWii: $305.50 charge has description of DOMAYNE AV/IT BELROSE BELROSE.
$100 credit has description of AMEX Harvey Norman CR BELROSE.

        • Thank you for the info.Went there for only $2.5 fare today and got 4 vpay cards. The staff there did not question my purchase at all.I received AmEx confirmation emails right after purchase so that statement credits will definitely come through.

      • Which store?

        • Belrose NSW

  • why dont people just buy multiple e gift cards online this should work ?44
