[Everbuying] Xiaomi Redmi Pro - Dual Camera OLED Android Smartphone - USD $199.96 ($264.75AUD)

Found this over at everbuying. Going for $264.75AUD compared to $314.58AUD at gearbest and decent deal, I've been using this phone for about a month now and the camera controls are pretty great, voice reception is a lot better than my Nexus 6P and Nexus 6. Everything else is normal, battery lasts well over two days with HEAVY usage. Only issue is it comes with ALOT of Chinese apps, that can be uninstalled, but still a bit of a hassle, no 5G Wifi and currently no global ROM.

I bought one of these for my mum. Biggest problem with this (and other MIUI devices) is the inability for a Google Calendar auto-sync… sometimes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Manual refreshes on the Google Calendar app seem to work but that's annoying if you use another app that uses a Google Calendar.

Other issue - no expansive storage and no USB OTG support.

No Global ROM, as far as I'm aware.

If you don't need any of that then it's a fine value product.

    • What's USB OTG support?

      • On The GO? plug in usb

    • Have you enabled background data for Google Calendar and Google Services?

      • I have.

  • OP, are you associated (e.g. being paid to post, given free stuff in exchange to post etc.) with Everbuying/Gearbest?

    • Can I get paid by them? Where do I sign up? LOL.

I thought this was a deals site, is there an issue with posting deals from these stores?

    • Hey Mod, so I can't make a post to show people different prices at different sites? Or what exactly am I doing wrong here? Some insight would be helpful so I don't make the same mistake again.

      • Simply a question as we ask users/stores to be transparent. So I'll take it as a No?

        • No, I do not work for them. Just trying to help out others by posting what I thought were deals cause I found the prices lowest at Everbuying while I was browsing. Should I not post anymore deals from everbuying?

        • @tosborne:

          Thanks.

  • tosborne, how's the camera and video compare with the Nexus 6P?

I was looking at the Nexus but at half the price this Redmi is hard to go past. It's Camera and video which is most important to me looks very promising.

    • I think the camera is better than the Nexus 6P, haven't tried video though. Panoramic mode works great better than my Sony A6000's panoramic mode, the software stitching is flawless. The dual camera "depth of field" feature needs some work though cause the blurring effect messes up the subject's edges a lot of the time and makes the blur look too artificial. But I think this could probably be fixed. There's a ton of manual settings for the camera if that's your thing.

  • GSM Arena says the Redmi Pro has a gyro, but the post doesn't mention. Is this the same phone?
