Amazon have kicked off black Friday early with some early deals.
Some so far are:

Akribos XXIV Men's AK625BU Chronograph down from US$695 to US$74.34

Invicta Men's 3044 Stainless Steel Grand Diver Automatic Watch down from US$545 to US$99.98

The New Yorker All Access (12 issue sub / 3 months) down from US$107 to US$5

*Heaps of other magazine subs (12 or 24 month) ranging from US$5 to US$20

There are also Deals Of The Day to keep an eye on.

Ok so they've inflated the RRP on the watches.
And apparently, despite what amazon say, print subscriptions aren't all likely to be available to Oz. I have however had no issue getting Nat Geo, New Yorker, and 2 others via digital subscription.
However if it's a bad deal, let me know and I'll happily delete it.

These watches are fake discounts with an artificially inflated RRP.

  • So you were an idiot to pay $700.

What's to say you're still an idiot paying $70?

Probably made from a $1.50 of raw materials.

Also, it would be great if true (new yorker is a must read)…but I'd doubt the magazine subscriptions will be available to oz at those prices.
International subscription for the new yorker is around $160.
International subscribers never get access to the discount deals offered in the usa

They added to my kindle subs list, but you're right with the physical sub. Have edited and mentioned it. Happy to remove the deal.

  • lol… http://www.ebay.com/itm/Akribos-XXIV-Mens-AK625BU-Chronograp…

    US $87.68

that RRP is worse than the 20% ebay off deals where they price hike just before the sale

    Is this Amazon or alibaba?

    • Amazon does massive price drops and increases all the time.

If this sort of discount happens in Australia, the seller is definitely not going to honour it.

    You sure that's a 12 month subscription? I think it's actually a 12 issue/3 month subscription and then seems like it's $50/3months after that.

edited. The Nat Geo was 12mths, handyman was 24mths, and a couple of the others I got were 12mths.

Be careful with the Invicta, and I'm not referring to the price or build quality. The case size is 47mm (not 49mm as stated by Amazon) which is large and at 17mm thick it is quite hefty. Too big for most and uncomfortable under a short cuff. It does sport a Seiko movement though.

  • This Invicta is better looking as it has a coin edge bezel as opposed to the scalloped edge, also it's titanium for US$11.00 more.
As ilikeit says, these have a Seiko automatic movement in them.
Invicta Men's 0420 Pro Diver Automatic Black Dial Titanium Watch US$111.19 + $7.35 Shipping.
    Camel price check.

Invicta/Akribos and a legion of other Eurasian watchbrands are serial offenders here. Nobody ever, since the invention of the watch has paid anywhere near the claimed retail price for an Akribos. Predatory marketing designed to trick the unwary and ill informed. If you want a watch with a Seiko movement get an SX007 or a Monster.

    • If you want a watch with a Seiko movement get an SX007 or a Monster.

Have you ever owned one with a Seiko movement or are you just bashing the name because everyone else does?
I don't think that comment would go down well with the followers on this thread - Let's see those Invicta 8926 mods!

      • I have never owned an Invicta but I have owned a couple of Eurasian watches, in fact i intentionally bought a Croton brand divers watch a few years back as this seemed to get reasonable reviews on WUS. When it arrived, even for the cheap price I paid it was awful. I ended up selling it on to somebody else. I have looked at and held plenty of invictas, never been prepared to pay for one regardless of the 'massive' discounts permanently on offer. i have been tempted to buy one just as a laugh on a couple of occasions but couldn't bring myself to do it. if there are folks on WUS that like modding Invictas, good luck to them!

I currently own 4 Seikos including both models I mentioned above. Any of my Seikos, including the also easily and commonly modified SX007 are much better built than the Invictas i have encountered.

  • Never again my invicta chronograph failed after leaving on in the shower. $170 build quality was more inline with a $17 watch from banggood

What model was it? Chronographs are typically less water resistant than these diver models because they have more buttons & no screw down crown, so you can't really compare the two.
