Help/opinion on buying a second hand Car

Update:

  • Thanks to the comments, I have decided to not buy this car.
    Cheers *

Hi fellow members, this is my first post, despite scrolling trough this forum on a daily basis.

I need someones opinion about this:

Im currently looking to buy a Hyundai i30 (Year 2012 to 2014)

I have managed to make a good deal with one particular seller.

But after looking on a car history website using the car's Vin number, this is what i found:

Australian PPSR and NEVDIS databases report:

VIN: KMHD251EMDU065646
Vehicle: HYUNDAI I30 2013, WHITE / WHITE
Type: CAR/SEDAN, CAR / SMALL PASSENGER VEHICLE

The vehicle has:

No encumbrance (money owing) record(s);
3 write-off record(s);

What do you guys think about that? should it scare me off from buying this car?

I test drove it. And it drove nice.

Opinions are well appreciated thanks,

Jamie.

    I would walk away.

Is it super cheap compared to other i30 cars of same age and km?

    • well it is listed as for $12000, 60000KM.

Managed to bring it down to $10000 - $10500.

I have seen other cars around $12000 - $13500 around the same Kilometres and even more kilometres .

i'd walk away after 1 repairable write off let alone 3.

    Walk away

Likely that's only 1 write-off, just FYI, it's how they record the data

But still, that's going to forever plague the car - When you go to sell it down the track, they'll do the REVS, and you'll have to sell it for next to nothing. Not to mention, you can't fully insure a written off car.

Just leave it for some other poor bastard.

    • Thanks, really appreciated.

    • one is Sep13 another Mar14, that would be seperate accidets wouldn't it?
      You are the expert though.

I've seen them listed a few times on 1 before, not sure why, maybe they try to put it over the pits again? Or it really has been written off twice, poor car!

        • I see tonight on tv, Suzuki Swifts for $14990 drive away.

        • @PVA:

Has been for over a month (manuals) :)

        • @Spackbace:
I was sure the ad said $13990 and $14880 (i assume auto) but can only find $14990 on suzukis website. thats in Qld. Maybe i wasnt watching right.

        • @PVA:

Ah ok, yeah you guys have a different franchise!

        • @Spackbace:
mate, thats what I thought the ad said, but I am prob wrong - maybe. have not seen the ad again.
