Car Accident Not at Fault, No Insurance: ( Need Advice

I walked outside of my house to a car flipped on its roof and my car pushed back 10 metres from its original park. I am definitely not at fault, but have not got any insurance and was wondering if anybody knew what my options would be as my car is wrecked. Please help!

Were you the one who flipped the car?

        • @spaghettiman:

          Haha, damnit! Good one. :(

Watching that clip also makes me want to buy a dashcam, as some of those accidents would be hard to prove who was in the wrong.

        • Haha, I think I remember that being picked up when it was first posted on DCOA.

Sorry no help as you have no insurance :)

  • If you have their details then you can speak to an automotive litigation lawyer. The same thing for someone with only 3rd party insurance.

  • You are going to have to take the driver of the other car to court and you wanna keep your fingers crossed it wasn't a poor person or uninsured person who caused the damage otherwise you are stuffed.

    • First you ask. Your isn't the first stage.

  • why cheap out on insurance lol.

If you have the other driver's details including who there are insured with (hopefully they are insured), go out and get some quotes to repair your car. Send these quotes off to the other drivers insurance company with an accompanying letter to claim damages. You could also achieve this by simply calling the other driver's insurance company and advising them of the accident and asking them what you need to do to enter a claim against the driver.

  • I would not drive a car without insurance !

I absolutely agree, but technically OP was not driving the car.

Just turn the other car the right way up and push yours 10 meters forward. Problem solved:)

So you haven't even got third-party insurance as often that will include cover against uninsured motorists.

  • You need to do the chasing up with the other drivers insurance. Basically you are the debt collector asking the insurance company to pay up so you can afford the repairs. They will want to see quotes and cost.
