Are the health/fitness deals worth it?

I see there are some cheapish deals on sites like groupon and scoopon e.g. 4 weeks gym membership from $9. Was just wondering are they worth it? It's seems like it to me as it's cheaper than a normal gym membership. But I want to know what's the catch? Those who have bought them are they worth getting?

The catch is that they'll try the hard sell on you when the period is up.

As long as you don't give them any payment details up front, you're sweet. Hell, feel free to give them a fake number.

  • 90% of people who join a gym stop going after 3 weeks cuz exercise is a grind - so from that perspective it's a straight up bargain compared to agreeing to pay for 12 months.

Though I'd recommend avoiding all that annoying crap by joining a gym with no contract period to start with such as Jetts lel.

  • I do the dance ones - but only if I'm certain I'll turn up.

why bother training for 4 weeks when you aren't going to follow through on the lifestyle change.

As a person who trains 6 times a week its people like this who make the gym a crap place to go because we have newbies everywhere occupying space for 4 weeks. Seems to be a rinse and repeat so its never ending. Wish the gyms would actually stop doing these deals.

    • join a proper lifter/training/hardcore or whatever you want to call them gym you wont have this problem. my gym has no aircon, no stupid distracting tvs showing crap. its relatively affordable, has more equipment than the average gym, and isn't full of people sititng on equipment scrolling instagram.

  • Yes, they're legit. Used tonnes (+ free trials) to try out different gyms in the area and maxed it out before I changed locations at my new job. Then maxed it out there and joined the place I like most. Great way to try different activities like spin, boxing, bootcamp, circuit etc
