Im getting one, not at hardly normal pricing though. https://www.exeltek.com.au/samsung-galaxy-gear-s3-classic-sm….

    • Woah, awesome price, thanks! Hopefully when stock is available will still be that cheap!

      • I don't think they will honour this price…being exeltek.

Update: Can't pre order on their site, there is no option for it. Called ExelTek, and they're saying they've disabled it, and they're saying prices will change from the original $485 soon, so no chance getting it at that price.

If i can't find a good local price i will probably just end up ordering from amazon or another overseas store. RRP is $350 USD + shipping should still come in under $480 AUD.

  • I still don't understand the need for one of these.

I think it looks really kool, and I love the idea and how it works. But honestly, I just could never bring myself to get one. Especially as I always have my phone on me and the price I've seen online.

I am thinking of getting one if the price comes down a bit. That said Australian pricing adds around $150 AUD more compared to Korean price (it's around $450 AUD) so, I might grab it in Korea instead (when the price comes down to around $400 AUD?).

I was even considering pre-ordering it (I was thinking about getting a smartwatch for a while), if the price was right with lots of pre-order bonuses. Eh, I will wait for the price to fall instead.

BTW, Samsung removed the LTE(4G) features from the Aussie S3 Frontier version, unlike the US counterpart.

    • There are two versions, 4G and Bluetooth version. I doubt 4G version will be released in Australia unless a telecommunication company specically decides to bring it. Did we even get 4G version for Gear S2 in Australia?

      • The main reason I was wanting to get the watch was for the LTE features.

If I was to purchase one from overseas would the sim work if it had the same bands? (Or would there still be no way for it to connect to any Aus telcos?)

        • I don't know. I am not sure whether Australian telcos would allow e-sim to be used in Australia.

        • @Oversimplified:

Should I bother waiting or should I just get this watch and hope they dont release an LTE watch in Aus within the next few years? D:

@0burntrice0: Another I don't know? They didn't release 4G version for Gear S2, I don't know whether Australia telcos would do the same for S3. I think the best thing you could do is ask around telco about whether they'd accept e-sim and so on and so forth.

  • Does anyone know if the US AT&T Frontier LTE version would work in Aus?

The watch will work but not mobile data becuase no network here supports embedded sim at this moment. I think the constraint is not on the radio frequency but the process of registering the sim. If you think about it, to port a number you get a new sim to put into the phone, they don't need your old sim. Obviously you can't do that with embedded sim.

  • Interested in the new watch and even thought about pre-ordering. But Christmas is just around the corner and I wonder if better deal likely to come around?

  • Does anyone have a spare promo code for the samsung gear 3?

If you have a samsung galaxy s7 you are entitled to 20% off.

    It would be greatly appreciated.

    Nevermind.

  • The more features, the lesser battery life time you will get. Battery technology is still sucks

    • I thought the same too, however I don't think it will be that much of an issue, especially since they claim the battery will last 3-4 days and the fact that it comes with a wireless charging dock that you can simply place it on each night - no need to even plug it in like most people would for a mobile phone.

I've just returned from HN to check them both out in the flesh before I buy online through Samsung Australia's website using the 20% off code for existing S7 & S7E users - checked out the Frontier and Classic….both are very nice!

For those interested in buying one, I stumbled across this mob selling them for $499 plus delivery (which for me in WA was $12.50) - http://www.personaldigital.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=ge…

    • They did increase the battery capacity and used 14nm finFET instead of 28nm finFET for their SoC.

So I got mine on Friday, I charged it to 100%, took it off the cradle at around 12am Saturday. It lasted around 72 hours (it's on 7% right now). I didn't use the location and always on display (which I've heard causes battery drain), but I've used S health features (sleep pattern, pedometer, etc). I am satisfied with the battery life right now.

  • Preordered the classic from Harvey Norman. Still haven't got it even though it was supposed to come on Friday… Harvey Norman also don't have an eta on when they will arrive. Anyone else in the same boat?
