Pfft the basic cover is $20-$30 depending on price in the store (online for base covers is BS)

Why would anyone spend this sort of money on a sofa cover when the sofa is half the price of the cover

    • Hi Mikinoz,

Thanks for the feedback, at Comfort Works we take every single constructive criticism very seriously.

Firstly though, I think you may have browsed a different IKEA website as the prices you mentioned above aren't exactly accurate. Looking at the IKEA's website, the basic cotton covers actually starts $50 and not $20-30. Their higher grade of fabric is already $130.

The Sofa which you referred to as being half the price of the cover isn't accurate either as price of the Klippan sofa 2 seat starts from $250 all the way to $339 for their higher grade fabrics.

At Comfort Works, each cover is hand-sewn using the highest quality of upholstery fabrics (>20,000 martindale/rub cycle). This fabric listed for example is a microfibre fabric with rayon (silk-like) properties milled in it. Even at IKEA where fabrics are milled by the thousands of meters, you can still see that they're pricing their higher grade fabric at $130.

Having said all that, I hope I can leave it to you to decide whether it's a fair 'Bargain' with the fact that each seams on these covers are hand-sewn using choicest fabrics and delivered to your door free of charge.

      Thanks in advance,

      Henry

      • The base covers are marked down in the store, base being cream/beige i bought 2 for 20.00 each last time i was there.

As i stated in my post the online price is BS, when you go to the store it is marked down (not on special)

The klippan actually starts at 249.00 so yours is 120 which makes it half the cost nearly

Your covers could be made by god and no one would want to spend the money on a cover for the most budget priced sofa out there.

A Bargain would be cheaper than available elsewhere, which its not.

From the subject: "Custom IKEA KLIPPAN sofa cover 2 seater black velvet-$120-Comfort Works Slipcovers"

It looks like you selling the cover only, for $120? or are you selling the actual Sofa?

it looks like they are selling an expensive cover for a budget sofa - sofa not included.

  • Yeah im confused as hell as well the difference in the ad and the description :\

  • Bargain or not, I think its a genuine offer. If you don't have the sofa, just move on. As a fellow ozbargainer, I don't want to see we have a reputation of flaming store reps. No one will post genuine offers anymore…

Whilst I agree to some extent….I'm a bit wary of the '50% off RRP' bit…..who has decided the RRP?
If these are custom made….there is no RRP….the price is a trade off between what the company decides to charge, and what the market will accept…..

I won't neg it, as I wouldn't know what the going rate is for custom made covers….and I think it's a good business idea………..but the 'RRP' makes the offer somewhat deceptive in my view

        and……..

        Fabric:
        Estimate Ship date 07/10/2010

either a long wait for delivery, or the website needs un-Americanising……

Hey guys, really appreciate the feedbacks, some really valid points there.

I do realise that the 'RRP' may be a bit ambiguous and totally agree that what I should have stated instead is the price we sold as normally.
For this you could browse our site at http://comfortworks.com.au/ikea-sofa-covers/Klippan-Sofa-Sli…

Long wait of 4 weeks for delivery is contributed by several factors such as fabric delivery time, sewing time, QC+Packaging, as well as delivery time to your doorsteps. Industry's average time for custom curtains (eg. Kresta/Spotlight) is about 5 to 7 weeks.

I'm very curious about the un-Americanising bit, could you pm me? I'd like to hear more.

          Cheers!

          • @HenryC: That would be the date ie 10/07/2010 for australia.

Question where is your product made ?

          • @HenryC:

            Estimate Ship date 07/10/2010

            is either……
            7th of October d/m/year
            or
10th of July - m/d/year……(generally the American way of writing the date)

    • Yeah your right lets discourage the good bargains by obscurity, and flood the site with crap deals

  • This store has been previously advertised here. Free advertising, not a bargain.

  • if this guy is selling the cover only, that is one expensive sofa cover, I checked the ikea store, http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/90183514, as you can see from that link, the cover is only $50, I dont know how customised this $120 cover is, but it looks the same to me to the link from ikea ($50)..

and andy19363, I agree, what was the RRP based on (if it's custom made, errr)?

    • Also if you go into the Ikea store you will notice the basic covers are usually marked down to half price or close.

      • Hey Mikinoz, I suppose my description of 'bargain' may have it flaws here. and also very true that 'a Bargain would be cheaper than available elsewhere, which its not'.

If you spare a min please have a look at bemz.com which is another company in sweden, i suppose one could compare the price of custom covers better this way.

A lot of times people choose not to buy IKEA because they don't want to have the same look and we try to help out with that bit of not looking too IKEA-ish. In fact, we have customers who actually buy an IKEA sofas without the standard cover and get a custom one made.

        Ta mate

Yeah no worries, we are pretty aggressive bargain hunters as you have noticed :)

I did actually take the point about customisations or individuality with the cover though, which is why i thought it odd having a customised cover for a bargain priced lounge it kinda didnt make sense to me as per my comment about the price of the lounge vs the cover.

Props to you though for your replies and your positive and professional attitude towards taking critiscm.
