Fairfax Media drops its paywall for US election coverage

All day today, everyone will have access to the best news and analysis of the US election campaign.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/us-election/the-sydney-morning-h…

It also appears to extend to all SMH articles from what I could tell, and to The Age as well (http://www.theage.com.au/).

Or browse in Incognito Mode and never hit the article limit :D

    • THIS!

      All Day, Every Day

      • Down down, paywall is down.

    • And if you forget, just clear cookies for fairfax.

As much as I love left wing propaganda outlets. I'll steer clear thanks.

So whats the alternative? The conservative outlets in Australia - Murdoch - are anti-intellectual, less evidence based.
Even the Guardian is still a much better read than most, despite the bleeding-heart left-wing viewpoint. They manage to separate facts from feelings.

      • Even though I find ABC's TV coverage/programming to be blatantly left leaning. I think their news coverage is about as close to balanced as you'll find in the country.

    • +1

Yeah, better stick to the right wing propaganda outlets.

  • Just delete the cookies if you dont want to use incognito mode.

    • Yup, been doing this for years. I find this easier personally than using Incognito…
Definitely going to try @flyingMoo tip of adding an entry in my adblocker though

    best news and analysis?

  • Looks like they are pulling the results feed from Washington Post, cut out the middle man: https://www.washingtonpost.com/

You're in luck! Today, the Washington Post also has no paywall.
"The Washington Post has taken down its paywall to give everyone access to its political coverage"

The motto for this election: Build a wall, then take it down again at election-time.

Dropping one wall when they're gonna build a new one

  • Or use the "fairfax paywall bypass" browser plugin…

Call me when they pay me to read their 'journalism.'

    • I like to think my subscription fee goes to the Adele Fergusons and Kate McClymonts, while the rubbish clickbait pays for itself. If there were more paying subscribers, they might've been able to keep more good investigative journalists like Michael West.

  • alternatively, we can just use this link instead

    http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/president

  • Stuff that.

Just go to CNN, FOX News, The Guardian, ABC etc.

  • Does anybody have a way to read the Courier Mail online for free?
There used to be Library PressReader but no more…
