Thanks, got a couple of cases.

    • hmmm, what do you intend to do with them,
id buy them if they make a good investment, but ive been told otherwise

Was tempted to stock up. But we still got leftover pasta in the freezer from the last deal.

this has come up a few times in previous posts… 28degrees discovered that it you mix it with sodawater (woolworths or coles brand) then you get a pretty tasty shandy

I suspect that is what the few cases are for

        • oh, so im doing it wrong by buying it for the glass bottle?

        • @hellohello123: nope, not here in SA, 10c straight back in my pocket for recycling.

      • Probably a bad vintage to invest on. If you want to invest the 2012 vintage is probably the one you'd wanna go for.

  • Doesn't deliver enough for the price.

If you're drinking, buy a bottle of Henschke Hill Of Grace. The '05 we opened last year was amazing, and I'm looking forward to opening the two more I have sometime over the next year or so.

    • Horses for courses. No wine is worth Tha much money, Grange or HoG.

      • You're wrong. Our discerning politicians have shown they're happy to spend taxpayer money on such wine. Surely the ultimate appraisal?

        • EnvisionAU just needed an excuse to brag about his/her conspicuous consumption.

I'd have kept the thousands of dollars in the bank myself 😊

    Great for cooking.

Very bad vintage, so Dan's is trying to move stock. The 2011 Grange should not have been made due to it being such a wet vintage, but Penfolds will make Grange every year, as they have never missed a vintage since Grange started in 1951. There was no Hill of Grace in 2011 due to the bad vintage. Better off spending a little more a getting a good vintage of Grange that will taste better and probably have double the cellaring potential of the 2011. Investment wise the only thing going for the 2011 is they only made about half as many cases compared to a good vintage due to low yields and minimal access to quality fruit.

So…. you're confirming what everyone above has said….this is a "reasonable" cooking wine.
By the way - there was a 2011 Hill of Grace

    • thats exactly what I heard as well,

to be honest, I am looking for investment purposes, I like my red but nothing is worth $100+ for me,

id rather 10x $80 bottles that may not be as good but comes close to the $800 bottle

    • Yeah you need to buy Top year only eg 2010, 2012 …..in France they vary the price of wine based on how good a vintage …..not what we do in Australia so you can pay the same for a bad vintage as a good one …. Some wine makers don't release their premium label in bad years and sell the wine as different brand or use in next label down…… but Penfolds release grange regardless of quality to keep the label on the shelf and promote the brand

      • you're paying for Penfold more very year, regardless how good they are, the recent release was sold out the first few days i DM

  • grange tastes better with big mac

  • Could this be used to make Sangria?

  • Perfect with a cube of ice and a coke.

    • Nah you gotta drink it the Daigou way….. Red with Sprite.

  • I'd go with Pertaringa The Yeoman 2010. Was $100 a bottle at it's lowest. Unsure of the 2014 ($250) as it's nowhere near its potential at this point.
