Acer Predator XB271HU 27" LED Gaming Monitor $929 + Shipping @ PC Case Gear

100

Great price from a reputable brick and mortar store for those shopping in Victoria. Next cheapest on StaticIce looks to be around $1,189

I even paid more for this monitor in the recent eBay deal, just my luck as usual…

  • What a price! Absolutely love mine.

  • Eh, unbelievable. Every time I commit to a purchase it receives a massive price drop a week later. This has me considering returning mine and banking on ebay sites dropping their price and grabbing one during the next 20% off sale.

    • Do you have an issue with yours?

      Btw, I didn't downvote you.
      Just curious.

      • I have some yellow bleeding on the right side of the monitor, both top and bottom. The uniformity isn't great either. Left side of monitor is nice and white, gradually becomes yellow from about the centre across. It's quite obvious whilst browsing the net. There's also this weird banding sometimes when I drag around white explorer or dialogue boxes, though it doesn't show during games.

Ahah, that's okay. I didn't take the time to express that mine could warrant a return regardless, so I understand the downvotes. It's just disheartening having spent so much on a monitor that isn't exactly perfect knowing I could possibly get a revision that exhibits none of these issues, or at least picked it up a little cheaper.

E: No dust or dead/stuck pixels btw. Judging by news articles the new model uses the same design, so I'm less frustrated than I was when I first saw this deal. I imagine it'll still pose the same QC risks.

I'm guessing an updated version could be on its way

and the X34 is down to $1479 https://www.pccasegear.com/products/33715/acer-predator-x34-…

    • Wasn't this only released in June this year? That would be awfully quick.

      • Nah the x34 is over a year old now
But yeah there's a new one coming

Sorry, by "this", I meant the XB271HU. Interesting though.

    • Also new competitors are entering the market.
I've been keeping my eye on the Viewsonic XG2703-GS which has the same panel as the XB271HU but apparently better manufacturer quality control.

For those of you not keeping up with the latest 144hz news.

The X34 is being replaced by the X34P in JAN/FEB 2017 (no price yet)
The Panel is going to be 100hz out of the box (no OC) with a joystick OSD like the Asus Panels

      See - http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitors/acer-predator-x34p-100…

The XB271HU is being replaced with the XB271HUT, that's "T" for "Tobii eye-tracking technology"

      See - http://www.144hzmonitors.com/monitors/acer-predator-xb271hut…

      • Do we know yet if the X34P can be overclocked further passed 100hz? That article doesn't seem to mention so. If not then I'm thinking may aswell just go with the X34 which OC's to 100hz anyway.

Not too fussed on the OSD. Its generally just something you have to fiddle with 1 time then its set and forget.

  • I've been saving a bit of cash to buy this monitor; I guess I'll be able to buy it earlier than I expected. This is a permanent price drop, yes?

  • How much is postage to WA, I cbf making an account to find out.

    • You don't need an account to find out. Just add to cart and there is a box where you can input your postcode.

      • $60 postage, I'm glad I got mine during the eBay sale.

Not a bad price. IMO, need more competition in this space to help drive the price of these monitors down to something more affordable.

    • Not sure why you got downvoted for your comment.
      More competition is good indeed.

I pushed your vote count back to neutral

  • Does anyone know if they'll allow the monitor to be inspected for a purchase in-store?
It'll save a lot of hassle having to take it back later.

I still haven't gotten over the headache of returning an XB271HU with dead pixels purchased from Futu a few Ebay deals ago

    • That's why I skipped the eBay sale. PCG has good customer support but unsure if they'll do the inspect on-site.

A reputable store that paid a $250,000 settlement to Microsoft

    • Interesting, I didn't know that.
It won't stop me going to them for a monitor though

They got caught doing something most stores do. Selling OEM keys.

    • Ouch

Looks like PLE and Scorptec have also dropped their price:
    http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Acer+Predator+X…

Historically the price was below $1000 between May and July this year (e.g. $989 @ CPL in July):
    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/ttnG3C/acer-monitor-xb27…

    • Think it's worth waiting for an eBay sale considering all stores are dropping their prices?

Not really interested in eye tracking which is the feature of the soon to be released replacement.

      • I wouldn't wait unless the Ebay buyer is local and accepts a possible refund at their expense (this is a panel lottery product)
