Coopers Home Brew, Aus Pale Ale + Brew Enhancer No.2. $15.00 (Members Offer) @ Dan Murphy's

160

I just bought this online & picked up. Not sure on stock levels but it was advertised in store also.
I find after 3 months bottled the taste really improves, if you can wait that long.
I've left some for 2 & 3 years and they are even better.

This Home brewing kit includes one each of Coopers Home Brew Australian Pale Ale 1.7g and Coopers Brew Enhancer No.2.

Membership is free here.

  • shame home brew makes a small apartment smell so much or i'd be all over this :(

    • Yeah but it's really good beer so that's a small price to pay.

      • +2

not for the arguments it'd cause with the other half ;) she'd chuck it all out lol

    • Just do the pov pack method (mix in the carboy, no boiling) and there won't be any smell.

  • How many bottles does a kit make?

    • +1

I usually have about 30 long necks ready when it comes time to bottle, but I think it ends up just a bit under.
      Coopers Pale Ale (23 Litres)

    • 23L ~= 3 cases.

  • nice one, got 2 packs :)

  • Any tips on where I shall buy the fermenter from?

The cheapest would be to look on Gumtree or eBay for a 2nd hand kit & the seller will usually throw in a lot of extra stuff like bottles etc.

Otherwise do a search for your local home brew shop. While they will charge more than buying a Coopers Kit from Big W, the advice you get and the quality of the kit will be a lot better. They usually come with a good quality bench capper which makes life a lot easier. It could mean the difference between using it more than once.
You will make the money back anyway the more brews you do, lol.

Also don't get a fermenter where the sides curve in at the top & has a screw top lid, these are harder to clean.
You want one with straight sides and a rip lid like this.

Thank you sir for your kind assistance. That's why I love ozb.

I decide to go to visit the shop you quoted from the second link. They are in Glen Waverley so not that far from me.

My mouth gets watered just by looking at the photo people posted onto CooperClub. Here I come moonshine!

or bite the bullet like I did. Go straight to kegs and gas. Saves cleaning bottles and capping! Again gumtreee/ebay good sources for complete kits.

        • How long does it still taste ok in a keg? I usually like to keep some bottles from each brew for 2 or 3 years just to see how good it gets.

        • @28Degrees:

only certain beer styles improve over that kind of time period
unless you are making a barleywine, sour, imperial stout or high ABV% belgian etc, its only going to get worse not better leaving it for 2-3 years

        • @SBOB: I haven't brewed any of those, I mainly have done Coopers range, some Tooheys draught (don't bother with Tooheys) & some from home brew shops. I've done about 15 brews and they all tasted better after a couple of years.

        • @28Degrees:

which in terms of beer stability and oxidising over time makes no sense :)

    Thanks, OP.

  • Maintain brew temp 19-20 degrees while fermenting..
