        • Yeah my last item did get cancelled, major bummer! I wish I could return the boxes they used to send all the stuff in, feels like such a waste :(

        • @Kugz: Not good!

  • Got two of the three items today, which were the Assassin's Creed Rouge guidebook and White Gamecube Controller.

I like how they used a scrap (but thick) piece of cardboard to house the book in. It arrived intact, y'know straight from the shelf.

Overall, I'm happy with the orders so far.

    • Edit: Wrong thread.

Worse experience with an online order
    My order got cancelled

Unfortunately there has been an unforeseen error with this particular item and sadly due to this we have not been able to fill stock for your order.

Has anyone successfully contacted them regarding this shameful scam? I've requested a full $25 refund on my shipping or I'll bring the four $4 game guides back to my local and go from there. They haven't gotten back to me yet.

I paid $25 shipping because I was expecting a $299 collectors edition marked down to $68, as well as an Assassin's Creed loot item, both of which were cancelled after they shipped the cheap stuff.

    • Yes, they were happy to refund the shipping costs to me immediately.
Weird that they haven't gotten back to you though. They replied back to me very quickly.

      • Ok thanks. I might try their social media this morning.

        • I believe the customer support team is having a rough time dealing with an angry mob of customers over the whole 'Mini NES' ordeal the past few days. Might take a while to get back to you :(

        • @Kugz: Yeah I've noticed that. The site has been crashing a bit.

        • +2

          @Kugz:

Yes, I noted that too. I never understand why people have adult-tantrums over things like this.

It's not the store's fault if Nintendo purposely limits their unit shipments on release (or can't meet demand), or crazy demand tips EB's website over. Unfortunately, some people were always going to miss out.

        • @fookos:

But I need my mini NES NOW!!! WAAAAA!

It's not like I could have been playing these games easily anytime at all for the last 30 years on the original NES, virtual consoles, and emulators!!!

        • @mgowen:

A lot of people don't know about emulators/virtual consoles. This mini NES is cheap, has a lot of nostalgia attached to it and people are willing to drop $100 to see what it is :P

I feel like there are a lot of people who want this NES because it's gotten so much traction over the news and social media. I mean, there's nothing wrong with that of course, NES era games are classics and everyone should enjoy them!

Though I think a lot of consoles will end up on the second-hand market rather soon, once the craze dies down and people realize they can make a buck selling it instead.

        • @Kugz: I might pick one up when it's $60 or so. The mini SNES and N64 and GameCube that are surely coming over the next 3 years interest me more. I never owned a SNES, and N64/GC games offer more longevity than NES to me.

Update on my EB order: They've said "A refund at this stage would be the best option" but haven't clarified whether they mean a refund of the entire order or just the shipping. Either way, I'm happy to do either.

The social media people are responding every couple of hours due to their crazy demand. They reckon their website had 2.25 million hits yesterday, and usually gets around 750k.

          @Putnum:

Yeah it's absolutely nuts hey! I managed to get a pre-order of the NES for a mate cause I've had training in these scenarios (thanks CatchOfTheDay).

The last (and most wanted) item from my orders is currently in limbo, they're having trouble locating the stock - doesn't sound good!

The mini SNES I might pick up for myself though :-)

  • Wow… Are they really sending my 33 items one by one ?

    • +1

Haha, yeah, mine were all sent from different EB stores, looks like…

    • +2

It's just crazy that they don't shift excess and unsold stock to their central high volume stores. The wood 3ds cover plates just sold for $4 would easily sell for $20 at a central store. ebay prices are $30-50.

      • +1

Agreed. Not complaining though. I work full time and I would not be able to make into the stores if they had a sale before stock ran out

Just received my Nintendo 3DS rubber carry case. advertised new, had a huge black smudge on the front which wont come off/possibly wear. Also came with complimentary sticker residue from the receipt they decided to stick on the rubber casing which has melted. Great work EB Games

Received 1 out of 15 products so far.

  • My Zelda statue was refunded :-( ah well, got everything else I bought. Time to search eBay!

  • 1st Refund = Natural Doctrine

  • Received 8/11 items with 1 of the 8 still on it's way. Some of the boxes were normal and others were EBgames specific with white rabbits and funny promotional material written all over it. Shame I couldn't get the FF type zero + Dragon Age strategy guide + a 3ds game but oh well; count your blessings, name them one by one :D

  • Um, i just got a gift card instead of a refund?

  • And I got my third and last item today, which was WarioWare: DIY for the DS. I was surprised to find a plethora of manuals and leaflets included, including a fairly thick instruction guide. What a score for $4!

Also, the CoD: Ghosts Prestige Edition ($15) was cancelled a few days ago, leaving the savings to be minimal (since postage doesn't get refunded). Sigh, I'm tempted to complain about this, but it's not enough to warrant a good outcome.

Oh well, thanks for the post 2SeeKU.

  • Wound up ordering a pile of things, EB cancelled everything except one $4 game, posted that and still charged me $8.95 shipping and didn't give me any notification until AFTER they had shipped that the other games weren't available.

Absolute bullshit. I usually do all my preorders and things with them but won't ever again after this, I'll stick to companies who don't screw me.

    • I think they should have to refund shipping proportional to the dollar value of the cancelled items. It's a bit like giving a new car buyer a mudguard and still charging them dealer delivery.

      • +1

Someone mentioned they processed a refund in a similar situation, but you have to phone. The shipping was paid for centrally, so each store wouldn't know which orders were being filled elsewhere - or that many wouldn't be fulfilled.

  • +2

Don't even try to defend eb games, they delayed my items, sent 2 that had minimal discount. Refunded all 14 well priced ones from the sale. This is the biggest switch and bait tactic I have ever seen. Mind you the item that I got sent was advertise as you had a permanent black smudge on the front.

From the first page where someone is attacking eh games and the worker is defending them. I see every reason for this attacks. Totally incompetent company who is unable to deliver e-commerce promises.

    • OMFG so pissed off I ordered 33 times. I'm going to receive 5 out of the 33 items & pay $24.95 in postage yeh I don't so !!!! I'm so angry all I'm getting are game guides I wanted the games as well.

      • +1

Please ring them and ask them to refund you your postage! 13 39 30

  • Received 5 out of the 9 items I've ordered (so it wasn't as bad as some the stories here). I rang them anyway to see if I can get half of the postage reimbursed but they said they can't do partial refunds on shipping. I didn't want to argue as I only paid $14 for shipping (so the refund was only going to be $7) but I've made a complaint saying that they shouldn't sell what they don't have in stock.

  • Some 3DS cover plates are back in stock at $4. Shipping is more expensive than a few weeks ago, however.

  • A few items I wasn't hugely keen on shipped, a few cancelled and a few still processing. Last time the processing ones all ended up cancelled anyway so if they get cancelled I'm gonna be chasing shipping on all the orders and seeing if theres anything else I can do.

This is so BS and so dodgy, I've received about 2/20 items and most of them (even the one cancelled last night) are still showing as in stock now……. Not to mention full price shipping on those partial orders.

  • The 2 main items i wanted from my shipment were refunded, and they still charged full postage. Not very happy, i would rather the whole order was cancelled. Then the few items sent.

  • Cancelled order, ridiculous!

  • My order was also cancelled. I agree with the dude arguing against EB Games on page 1 of the thread they are another useless Australian company that can't do retail or customer service. This 'sale' smacks of a scam.

  • Yeah I've been regularly trying to take advantage of this sale and usually get all but one or two of the items cancelled. They don't adjust the shipping fee and send the rest out before I get a chance to cancel it. Mind you the two times I contacted them they refunded the shipping cost so if you're having any problems then just send them a complaint or ring them. Still really dodgy though and one of them which was apparently new came in a clear case with just the disc.
