Canon EOS 750D + 18-55mm $621 @ The Good Guys (or $421 w/ Price Match at Harvey Norman + Multiple AmEx)

200

Found the popular Canon 750d with 18-55 lens going for $621 at TGG (after $100 cashback). Should be able to price match at Harvey Norman to bring it down to $521 with the AMEX statement credit or $421 if you have 2 AMEX cards.

Credit to syba for the 1300D deal for $264 after price match, $50 cashback and AMEX statement credit.

  • If you look again, it says $721 before cashback. So it should be $621 after cashback, not $521.

You're right. The title is wrong.

    This or an A6000?

    • I love my A6k.

      I have a 16mm 2.8 Lens, and a 35mm f1.8 Lens, and a 55-210mm lens. (all around $1500 including body).

Pretty much can do landscapes to portraits to sports photography.

The phrase goes: The best camera is the one you have on you…. taking that into consideration, I would choose the A6000 every time because it is much more compact and you're inclined to take it with you, most places. As opposed to carrying a bigger SLR.

I guess it depends on your purpose of use for the camera, but for regular joe's who like taking photos, not depending on it professionally, I would choose the a6000 every time.

If I was a pro - I would look at a minimum 7D MK2, or a 6D full frame camera in the canon range.

    • I would go for the A6000, the phase detection focus is like 100 times better than this machine.

      • I already have an rx100 and I love how compact it is. The only thing stopping me is the range of lenses is a lot smaller than this.

        • I m in the same boat planning to get a new camera.
I m still waiting for the Canon M5 to come out and compare with the A6300.
If i m going for the Sony A6300, i will get the 28-70mm lens to start with, might add a 50mm f1.8 prime afterwards.

In fact, the lenses from Sony are lot more than in the past now, but they are way more expensive.

        • @kser:

The A6300 is a very expensive camera for very few additional features compared to the A6000.

A6000/Sony Mirrorless has a bit of focus hunting issues in low light. I find SLR's while they theoretically have 'less' focus points, and miss out on Phase detection AF - the sony mirrorless performs worse.

  • PRICE MATCH is NOT a bargain

  • Plus, expect to have to chase up your cash back. Often if you dont follow up, they simply wont process it, despite having completed all the steps correctly. This has been my experience last 2 times with Canon cash back offers :(

    • often the case with many cashback offers. I reckon half of the cashbacks ive ever submitted only get processed when i call up about them

  • Is it worth investing another $700 to get a Canon 70D? And what are the main features that the 70D offer that this doesnt?

    Cheers!

I mean this with no offence, if you don't know, then no, it's not worth it. The 750D is newer, has a higher res sensor, the 70D is weather sealed, and more geared towards a pro, or a serious hobbyist. You're better off spending the $700 on a couple of good lenses.

  • Multiple amex? How do you stack multiple amex's at checkout?

Their price on the Canon 7D is not bad for one with local Canon warranty - $1,711 body only.

The overseas sellers are around $1550 with their own warranty and the issues that go with that.

The 7D is a lovely camera for non-pros. Fast and quiet focus - can take amazing shots… but $1k more than the 750D which would be more than adequate for most people.

  • One very happy new 750D owner here. Used the price match, 2 x Amex cards & Canon cashback to grab it for $421. Thanks so much OP!
