  • I'd be all over this but no DVI port.

    • Only cost a few bucks for hdmi to dvi adapter.

      • Not really that great for people who are using overclocked korean monitors..

        • OK 6.95 for display port to dvi dual link

        • @cozmo:
Stil wont work I believe, I'm pretty sure it has to be direct.

  • where does this stand in comparison with geforce? 1070?

    • +1

a lot slower but you are talking about a card thats about half the price.

      The 480 is a card for 1,080p/60.

The 1070 touches on 4k and would do 1,440p/60 quite well.

    • +2

It's comparable to the 1060 but still about 5-10% slower in most DX11 games. It pulls ahead in DX12 and Vulkan titles.

  • which is better the nvida 1060 6 gb oc or this one ? Getting in consideration that the nvidia on the other promotion is being offered at 329 aud which is just a bit higher.

    • +2

      DX11 games = 1060 6GB

      DX12/Vulkan = 480 8GB

Future wise I can see the 480 being the better card but right now the 1060 beats it in most games but only by a 5-10% margin. Also it has an extra 2GB of VRAM which could be helpful in some instances but not many.

You are forgetting Freesync, Gsync adds $250 to monitor price.

    • +3

Depends what games you play and at what resolution? As mentioned above 1060 is generally better in dx11 titles and rx480 has advantage with most dx12 titles.
Also depends if you want to make use of G-sync or Freesync? If your monitor already has this feature or you want to buy one with this feature.

Sadly this deal has finished the price is back to $249.42 US (approx $361.56 AUD with shipping, based on amazon currency exchange)
