Does Kindle Paperwhite Ever Go on Sale?

Wanting to buy a Kindle Paperwhite, which is currently offered around $170 - according to PriceHipster this the cheapest recent price, though it is not advertised as a sale.

Previous bargains and forum posts do not reveal any discounting pattern (compared to, say, UE Boom which is discounted every few weeks).

Do I buy now and cross one Xmas present off the list, or wait and hope that the pre-Christmas / Black Friday sales mark it down further.

  • It doesn't go on sale at any regular pattern. Best way to get a discounted price is to wait for one of those eBay sales and get it for $140-150 from Officeworks.

  • Kindle paperwhites were discounted more frequently in 2015 - not so much this year unfortunately. I gave in and bought at officeworks with 5% team member discount. Agree with above commenter that maybe best to wait for an eBay sale and hope it's not excluded from the sale.

  • Thanks ceribik and kboomkinesis

  • Yeah I am after the new 300ppi model but never seems to get heavily discounted.

  • Black Friday sales coming up soon, can you order from Amazon?

    • Difficult to see it being worthwhile. Costs $10-20 more on Amazon even before shipping. The deal would need to be pretty amazing to recover all that.

  • Looking at the UK price record, it has been discounted by 27% twice before, in Nov and at Christmas last year.

Given that Black Friday/Cyber Monday is coming up, I might look to that for potential good prices - though where is another matter.

  • I found the user experience is not as good as old generation kindle. The responsive time of the touch screen is slow.

  • There aren't that many retailers offering it for us to get sales. It's a great product, for the sake of a small discount, I'd just get one rather than wait in vain.

  • Hi OP, see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/278152 if you're still on the look out!

    • Yep, thanks. Grabbed it as soon as the 10% sale was confirmed!

  • I saw it in Big W's catalogue today for $159.00

  • you can get it for $143 with 10% off code C10YAY on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222243366075

    • Well, there you go… down another $15 on the full price….

Oh well, can't be bothered returning and rebuying.

      • yeah the hassle of doing that isn't worth 15 bucks
