12.5" - 13.3" Laptop with Conventional Hinge

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations on a 12.5" - 13.3" laptop with a real hinge, not a convertible tablet.

I wan't something with a Skylake CPU and Core M is fine as I believe the only real difference (given the same number of cores and frequency) is the GPU and I'm mainly using it in the car for tuning and emails/youtube/word/excel on the couch.

I was hoping to see something in click frenzy but nothing is jumping out at me. Also, I missed singles day 11/11.

The budget is <$1000 (inc) especially if it's international but I'm mainly concerned with the value and making sure it lasts. My current machine is a HP Elitebook 2540p which I've had forever. I bought a pavilion 14 i3 and put an SSD and 8GB in it back when they came out and I didn't like it so I went back to the 2540p.

Bottom line, small quality machine and decent value for money.

Thanks,

—Drew

  • It's a convertible rather than a laptop (keyboard detaches so screen becomes a tablet)

    • He's using it for car tuning so I suppose he wants something that is more rigid, more durable and can handle being grabbed by the display if required. Maybe meeting MIL-STD 810G dust resistance.

I'd be recommending a Dell Latitude via Dell outlet instead as that is basically the competitor to the HP Elitebook. There's also the Thinkpad 13 ultrabook.

    • Thanks Diji, 5Y cpu's are Broadwell not skylake. I bought my son a transformer book is think T100? and although i think the hinge will work (as no kickstand is requried) I don't think this is the one for me.
