Wow that's pretty cheap. I got mine for 1.2k from Australia. I guess the 600 was for peace of mind knowing it might break down.

We run it 2 in a week. House is pretty clean except for corners that the neato cannot reach which between desks and bed etc. However, we have a smaller vacuum for that task so pretty good.

You have to remove a lot of items from the floor before it is clean though.

Seriously? You paid probably full RRP, or roughly two times the Amazon price, in case it breaks?
It always baffles me when people pay 100% on top of the normal price for something, based on the <10% chance it breaks down. But I guess it explains why places like Myer have >$1000 pricetags on things like this.

      • Well that's included another 2 years warranty on top. It was i think around 1k?

  • Was just talking to the missus about this last night. Very tempted to pull the trigger on this…

I have an older model (XV-21). It is powerful, but noisy, and it becomes significantly less timesaving when you have many objects around the house that need moving out of the way (think toys, blinds with strings at the bottom, long curtains, chairs which will get it stuck under the table, shower mats, etc.).

P.S. don't pull a trigger on it - it has friggin' lasers and will fire right back.

      • Sounds like it will be alright at my place then. Not a lot of clutter in our floor.

Will be careful to dodge lasers. :P

      • Helpful feedback. I love home automation so always wondered whether a robot vac will work for us. Little kids and their stuff means probably not at this stage.

Hooray for the Dyson stick vac though. Love that thing.

I ordered this off Amazon UK a couple weeks ago and confirmed that as Amazon UK is the seller they provide 2 years warranty (better than the Australian sites with 1 yr) and will also refund return shipping back to the UK for repairs.

Pretty happy with it so far it picks up a lot of dust and I have medium pile carpet throughout, it's nice to come home and the vacuuming is already done. Only incident so far is it had partially sucked up the laptop side (like just half the hard USB style plug) of the power cord and I came home to it beeping requesting to clear the obstruction, once I did this it kept going.

    • Where does it state 2 year warranty?

      • I should have clarified, it's Amazon that provides the 2 yr warranty.

        • Maybe it's changed in recent times because you now have to pay for the extra year warranty

        • +2

@yoyomablue: I did a chat with them prior to purchasing where they confirmed the 2yr warranty and return shipping cost refund, the warranty that you can purchase is only for EU residents

        • @burnstar: ok thanks. That's good. Even though credit card gives me an extra year, I would still have to pay return shipping in 2nd year if it was on credit card warranty

  • Would these robovacs set off motion-detector based house alarms? thinking about getting one and letting it do its business during the day when no ones home, but not if it'll set off the alarm.

    • +1

If your alarm will detect movement just above floor level, then yes, I'd suspect it would set it off.

    • +1

Normal PIRs will trigger the alarm. If you have pet friendly ones like Bosch Tritech Gen2 Pet friendly then it will not.

  • Can it's stair detection be trusted? Keen to get one, but it's a pretty big fall if doesn't notice the stairs.

    • +1

Can't speak about this particular model, but I have the Neato Botvac D85 and it detects stairs perfectly fine - even in the dark.

      • Awesome, thanks. Just purchased. :)

  • Wonder if it will be cheaper with Black Friday

  • +2

Ugh, I'd buy this in a second if it had an API and an IFTTT channel. Would love to be able to trigger this via alexa.

I have no idea what you described…but yes I agree

  • YES! I've been waiting for a while to find a deal on this specific model!

  • Purchased.😀 Now the wait begins…

  • When purchasing do you make your credit card use AUD or GBP currency? I get a total price of $703.93 when using AUD currency. Thanks and great find! I've been waiting for a while for this Vac.

Depends on fees and rates on your card. Worked out better for me in GBP.

    • Amazon has horrible conversion rates. Get yourself a fee-free creditcard such as 28 Degrees or Bankwest Zero Platinum, and you will get good conversion rates from Mastercard without any fees. If not eligible for a creditcard, get a Citibank Debit Plus account (also fee-free).

So this will need a power point adapter?

    • +1

Yes, the charging station will need one.

    • +1

I have just received it - you won't need an adaptor, just an Australian lead; the 3 hole type similar to a kettle plug.

  • I managed to snag one at that price & recommended it to some others about 4 hours ago. I have just checked & sadly the price has jumped up to £549.

  • Just got it and let me assure you this thing is awesome!
My fourth robotvac and so much better than all the others (including LG Roboking Square)
The suction is awesome, and that suspension mechanism!!!!
