Midea MWF05CB4 Wall Air Conditioner (Box-Style) $349 + Free Shipping @HomeClearance Online

I did a quick check & this is the best price I found factoring the free shipping & 5 year warranty. I know from experience that the box style units do cool better than the free-standing ones.

I bought 2 Midea wall splits, both had a PSU whine after ~12 months that meant the power supplies had to be replaced, around another 12 months later one started again and had the PSU replaced for a second time. 6 months later the second one started to whine again, I gave up and decided just to wait until it burns down my house and I'll get a quality brand to replace them with.

    • That's a shame. However, this post is for an entirely different product, and carries a 5 year warranty.

This is actually a single, self-contained wall-mounted unit. The inner workings slide from the outer mounting shell so you can mount the frame first & then slide the actual unit back in once that is in place.

I haven't mounted it yet, but I did disassemble & run it to test it out & it's pretty powerful for the $$$. I've purchased this to supplement a too-small split unit in a rented home.

Reviews of this one, from another seller's site:

  • Great price and great timing, we've been meaning to replace our noisy portable, thanks for this.

  • Can this window mount?

  • Isn't this a window mount - not wall mount?

    • By wall, it means you generally cut an exact-sized hole in the wall for the outer sleeve.

My windows are side-sliding, so a bit more difficult. To window-mount requires resourcefulness & good idea of building support for it on both sides of the glass + filling the gap above & then securing.

Since I rent & don't want any grief from the realty, I'm trying to come up with a way to use one table inside the window & another, slightly lower, on the outside. Current though is to place thin, foam board pieces the A/C width on the sill, each side of the metal track to protect that, & a wide slab above the A/C to seal the gap. Then, secure it with a wooden rod in the track so the window can't back off.

FYI— the outer cage is thin. Don't man-handle it. If you have questions getting it apart, PM me. The manual is useless & no info online.

      :)
