I agree, the details have been very scarce, but to minimise one's risk, I would recommend not to buy from third parties like Groupon.
To gain an extra 50c to lose $100, no way in hell would I take that trade.

Third parties are more likely to have to store the ecards in a separate database, which might not have the same standards as the Woolworths Provider.
Even then the ones you buy directly might also be vulnerable, so I recommend only to buy small around $100 and use them within a week.
