I bought this on the last deal at about $120 AU. It's awesome. It works quite well with my iOS device. The battery can last about 5 days if I remove seconds and weather from the watch face. Square by Turner Vink and Timestyle by Freakified are my two favourite watch faces.

This watch is so robust that I take it to swimming pool, steam and Sauna and shower all the time for more than 1 year now, never missed a beat. Only drawback is that the bezel is prone to scratches and can get quite ugly. I use sandpaper to sand the paint out of the bezel and now it looks better!

    • What grade of sandpaper?

  • Thanks OP. I've been looking at smartwatches lately for my wife (mainly for notifications and pedometer).

The Pebble Time is $69 USD atm on Amazon (via your link).

While researching this, I also checked into the Pebble Classic, which is $30 USD Refurbished:
    https://www.amazon.com/Pebble-Smartwatch-Classic-Android-Dev… .

It seems the Pebble Classic can have apps downloaded to it to enable it as a pedometer:
    https://www.verywell.com/pebble-smart-for-walkers-3435902

But, a downside according to one review is that it has limited memory, so can only hold about 5 apps at a time (this includes watch faces), so you need to remove and upload apps around to suit.

Anyone have a Pebble Classic and use it as a pedometer?

    • Pebble classic doesn't ship to australia btw

    • You can have an infinite number of apps setup - it automatically swaps them with the phone to make them available (since they are small, the lag is limited). Personally use misfit as a step tracking/sleep monitor.

      • is misfit works on the pebble classic?

        • Yep

    • I used to own a Pebble Classic, I loved it! From memory the pedometer functionality was fairly inaccurate though compared to a FitBit or similar device. If you're interested in smartwatches and the extra functions they can provide the Classic is the perfect place to start. I bought mine 2nd hand for $50 (Gumtree) and resold it 2 years later for the same.

    • FWIW Pebble Time's pedometer is more accurate than my Xiaomi Mi Band (original).

    • I have the Classic - very happy with it. Misfit does steps.

My wife has a new-ish Fitbit - there is about 7% difference step count between us, consistently. Don't know which one is right.

For me it is the comparison per day that is perhaps more important than the actual count.

Its a bit clunky looking though.
      This one looks nicer…

  • Pebble Time, or Asus Zenwatch 2??

I wonder if either will be in the cyber monday sales soon?

    • It's a choice between charging it every night, or every weekend.

      • Also a bigger face and full colour screen on the Asus, as well as Android Wear.

    • Cyber-sale or fire-sale…? RIP Pebble… :(

  • I bought my wife a new Pebble Time from Amazon a few days before Pebble shut down! Warranty means nothing now.
