    You had me at Denon

  • I still need to find something on amazon.de to use my 10E voucher…

  • Bought an X3000 a couple of years ago locally, paid around $900 and change great unit. Upgraded from Sony & Onkyo, definitely would buy this if I needed one.

  • Aussie plug /240volt?

    • +2

Nop, EU plug but the voltage is the same.

      • Cheers

Standard IEC socket on the back. Buy a new cable locally ($5-10) or you might have one lying around from an old PC or something.

  • Great price, but factor in shipping back to Germany if something goes wrong.

I bought an onkyo 609 like half of ozbargain a few years ago and it developed the typical hdmi faults. Local disty wouldnt touch it (even if i paid for it) and shipping back to Germany (as there was an out of warranty recall in place) was $400 through some channels. I luckily had my brother in law take it back to the UK with him (he lives there), had it repaired, and he brought it back with him on his next trip (a year later - i bought a second hand integra on ebay for $90 while it was away - its as good if not better than the onkyo i sent but no HDMI)

I'm not saying don't do it, i paid 1/3 of aus retail for the Onkyo, but just try and research the model to see if there are any common faults in previous generations etc.. as the electrics inside don't change too much from year to year

    • Onkyo are crap. Specifically due to HDMI failure.
Pretty sure I have the 609. Bought locally. Don't suppose they recalled it in AU? I'm afraid to turn the blasted thing on.

      • Call Ambertech, they repaired mine free. Certain models with the hdmi board issue repaired until 2018.

        • I want to get rid of the bugger entirely. No point keeping something with an unknown lifetime.

It only gets about 50 hours use a year. So if it dies by 2018 that's still not acceptable to me.

  • Thanks bought the X1300.

Funnily enough this is also replacing an old Onkyo 609 that hasnt worked for a few years as repair estimate was $300+. Keeping fingers crossed but its a great price for a new model.

    • Call Ambertech, they repaired mine free. Certain models with the hdmi board issue repaired until 2018.

      • assuming local stock…

        • It was.

  • Damn this is a good deal.. I love my Denon X4100W. It's barely 18 months old but I really need HDCP2.2 and HDMI2.0a. Considering upgrading.. anyone have an idea how much I could sell the 4100 for?

    • +1

      lol, that's quick! http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?/topic/225237-fs-denon-x4…

Are you planning to buy first sell later?

      GLWTS

      • Not sure at this stage.. depends if I'm going to be able to move my 4100 on easily or not and how much it is worth. Also depends if I will be happy downgrading to the 3300.. comparing them both and the 4100 is a fair bit better in a lot of ways. I just need HDCP2.2 :(

        • no need to ponder anymore, the x3300w is gone!

        • @BlackCaviar2016: still pondering. Even if it costs more from somewhere else. This has sort of pushed me to want to get it done.

        • @dwhes:
What are the advantages of 4100 over 3300? I can see 3300 is 2 models newer, both 7.2 channel.

        • @BlackCaviar2016: The new 4300 is the same series as the 4100. 3300 is model below. 4100 is 7.2 out of the box but supports 9.2 with an additional power amp. 125W per channel vs 105W. Audussey DSX. DTS Neo X. Auro 3D. AL24 processing plus. Clock jitter reducer. MultiEQ x36 pro. Spotify, pandora connect. 3 HDMI out, 2 for video and 1 for zone, 3300 is only secondary zone. DLNA. Plus a few other minor things. So a pretty big difference and I'd be losing a fair bit that I actually use by down/upgrading. But I really want HDCP2.2.

  • Great price on the X3300 - similar price I paid locally for an X2200 recently.

However after buying a Yamaha AV receiver from Amazon Italy 3 years ago, and it dying after a couple of days, and costing over $400 to post back to Amazon for replacement (thankfully they paid me back as they considered it DOA) Id never buy an AV receiver from overseas again.

Fairly low chance of failure, but anyone who pays $1000 for a unit that dies after a few months with no warranty would be seriously pissed (and unlucky).

    • Yamaha only appears to have a 2 year warranty locally anyway. Though I'd want more than 3 years out of mine.

  • I bought the X2300w from Amazon Germany last week for around 580 euro including post. Arrived in perfect condition. :)
Was contemplating the 3300 but it was too deep for my cabinet, plus the way the 2300 handles it's dual hdmi outputs suits my setup better.

    • I have a 30cm deep bricked in (converted to a shelved area) fireplace I'd love to find a AVR to fit - but I'm struggling - any tips since you have been looking for short AVR?

      • Yamaha RX-S601.
31cm deep from the front fascia to the wi-fi aerial (the aerial is the biggest protrusion on the back of the unit). The knobs on the front protrude an additional 2cm.

Not aware of any other unit that comes close to your requirements.

Or RX-S600 was the previous model. Less features, although it did have DAB which the RX-S601 does not. Second hand prices may not save you much versus the RX-S601.

    • "plus the way the 2300 handles it's dual hdmi outputs suits my setup better."

      Please explain the differences?

      • Based on reading the manuals the 3300 has two discrete hdmi outputs. One for zone 1 and the other for zone 2. I might be mistaken but I couldn't find the option to have both outputs display the same source.

The 2300 just displays the same thing on both outputs. Although you can choose which output to have active at any one time.

        • Thanks. I never thought about this. I need cloning too.

  • I got the same model but lots of tiny little annoyances. I went with Denon because everyone praised them. I bought a Yamaha Aventage as well and I find it so much better, the software is not buggy. Of course YMMV. has Denon released any new firmware updates in the past 6 months?

    • hi overshopper, can you go into a bit more detail as to what tiny little annoyances do you have with the unit.
Not trying to be funny here, I am genuinely interested in your feedback as I was considering purchasing this unit.

  • the X3300W on amazon.de seems no longer shipping to Aus and also price went up!
Looks like it has been Ozbargained! lol

  • Was about to pull the trigger and gone!

    • +1

If you really want a new Denon that's hdmi 2.0a etc. the 2300 is still a great unit at a price around $500 cheaper than local stock.

  • +2

Don't forget to check www.computeruniverse.net for Denon receivers. Not as big a discount, but much cheaper shipping should offset this…
