Account sharing on the "To the max!" plan is also new.

I had been using farm as my primary backup block account allow with cheapnews as my primary. I'm likely to pick up the improved "To the max!" plan, account share it and run it as a dual primary server

Starts @ 11am EST and runs for 48hours

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2016

    Usenet.farm is the worst I have tested for deleted content. give it a miss.

      which one do you recommend?

      • -1

        I use thundernews $5 per month for my 1st priority server with about 5 datablocks with different providers e.g. Astraweb, tweaksomething, etc. for after that. Thundernews gets about 85% of what I download. My datablock with usenet.farm has hardly been touched since it can't find anything.

        • Usenet Farm > Thundernews besides retention

          Thundernews = 3000+ days Highwinds

          Usenet Farm = 1200 days xsnews, 1100 days Highwinds, 30days their own

          The reason your Usenet Farm doesn't catch much is because your primary provider Thundernews is also a Highwinds reseller.

        • @4agte: This is true. I'm not saying Thundernews is better than usenet farm just that usenet.farm has been useless for me and sabnzb ends up deferring to astraweb and tweaknews to get what's missing.

          @Avatar:

          but you did suggest Thundernews was much better. I just wanted to make it clear that Thundernews has no benefits over Usenet Farm besides the retention

          @4agte:

          Actually didn't mention thundernews in my original post…

        • @Avatar:

          I know what you said. I even went back to read it again. Maybe you should do the same instead of negging me, Mr Salty

          1st post - you stated that Usenet Farm is the worst available provider

          2nd post - you recommended Thundernews despite only achieving a shocking 85% completion rate with them

      • I have test many usenet providers and make the following recommendations based on sharing and non sharing. One of the below should give you also 100 completion if used in conjunction with automation like sonarr and couchpotato

        Sharing
        Primary - Usenet Farm and Cheapnews
        Backup block - Astraweb

        No sharing
        Primary - Usenetdiscounter* or Usenet Farm
        Backup block #1 - Usenet Farm (if not used as a primary)
        Backup block #2 - Astraweb

        *Usenetdiscounter is a reseller of Cheapnews. It is cheaper but account sharing is limited to 2 simultaneous ip's

      I have had the opposite experience with usenet.farm. They are have been great.

      Been using Usenet.farm since they started, can't remember the last time I had an issue with deleted content. It's been fantastic for me, couldn't recommend more highly.

    • Been using them since they started speed has improved heaps and is the only one i use now.

    I understand that the first rule of Usenet is not to talk about it. Could some one PM me and explain his it works? TIA

  • I'm unable to select the "block" account on the payment page (but I can select the "stingy" and "to the max" options). Anyone else getting this?

    • Yeah noticed that too. Just change the code in the box from "BF2016" to "BF2016BLOCK" and it'll let you select it :)

      • Brilliant, thanks for replying!

  • Thanks got a BF2016BLOCK and noticed I have a BF2015 block unused from a year ago, oops! :) Same fill provider as my other one anyway, so will add it into nzbget when I remember.. glad these don't expire.

  • If paying monthly, will I retain the Black Friday discounted rate? Also, do payments reoccur or do I need to manually pay monthly?
    Anyone getting slow speeds too?

    • Usenet.farm speed is currently maxed out at 6.5MB/s
      Just realised their online configuration guide mentioned only 20 connections.
      After increasing it to 40 I was able to max out my speed to 10.5MB/s

      It's a shame so many connections are required to max out the download speed which means I'm less likely to account share.

      BTW, they don't do month by month plans at the discounted rate.
      I pre-purchase 12 months

      • I think there's some kind of shaping schedule happening. I get full line speed from midnight to 5pm and then it's slowed to 50KB/s outside this time. Only been with them a few days now. Emailed support but yet to hear back.

        I ended up buying 6 months, for the price I can't complain.

        I'm also getting lots of blocks missing with about 13/18 distros, several out of retention. Any recommendations for an alternative to try finish these?
