$10 eBay Shoptical Credit Disappeared?

I received an email asking me to fill out the survey for $10 credit after participating in the Myer VR Headset event https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248602

after completing the survey,i received an email in my gmail, and ebay account saying that the $10 was credited and as far as I remember, it was due to expire in December and didnt seem to have a minimum spend.

i have been holding off a while from using it as there's always some promos going on with ebay these days, but I am trying to find the email/code for it now and its disappeared from my ebay inbox completely. i also did a search in my gmail and couldnt find it.

not sure if i am going loopy, is there anyone else that received the credit, havent used it but its showing up in their account?

  • Yes, this happened to me. Lucky I had opened the message previously so I just searched for the page in my internet history.
    I was pretty surprised to see it disappeared!

    • does it say the expiry date somewhere in there? I opened it ages ago unfortunately so it ll be almost impossible to find it in my history. if its expired i can chalk it up to being my fault that i missed out..

    • and i can see how they would pull it out of my ebay inbox, but its gone from my email, and outlook (partners one) as well! or maybe i need better search terms, could you post up a screen shot or text of what the email says so i can search from that?

      • It expires at the end of Dec. As far as I know it was never emailed out, just in your eBay inbox. Unfortunately I can only access it at work (since I've never opened it on my home computer), therefore, I wouldn't be able to give you any more details till Monday. Try searching your web history for "http://mesg.ebay.com.au/mesgweb". This will bring up all the ebay messages you have ever viewed in your browser.

        Here is some text from the eBay message:
        "Your $10 voucher for participating in eBay’s VR Survey."
        and
        "*1 transaction per person. Excludes gift cards. Expires 31 December."

  • mine disappeared too. Haven't used it yet but I was pretty sure it expired on the 31st of Dec

  • good to know it wasnt just me going nuts! I didnt think it was possible to revoke emails once you've read them…

  • This is incredibly poor form. I used the code last Saturday, but definitely remember it being until Dec 31.

  • Hi All, so i am on livechat right now and asked about the credit. they can confirm the credit is there but didnt answer as to why email was revoked, guess i didnt really push it either but they are able to tell you the code, and expiry date 31st dec. I have written it down on a post it! But please if you havent used it and the email has gone, contact ebay live chat!

    • They couldn't find a voucher under my account and keep asking me to check email. But I can't find the email anywhere. Sigh.

        or you can try djsweet's method of searching your internet history for "http://mesg.ebay.com.au/mesgweb".

    • oh! my message was already removed when i checked, i thought your suggestion would have led to an archived page or something (shows how much i know :P ) , but if you haven't used it yet, contact live chat! I am fairly sure it will be linked to your account, as mine + partners were found easily that way.

      • Mine was there yesterday and gone today. Live chat couldn't find my code and didn't seem to have any idea about the VR Promotion. Instead they tried to give me the C10AUS code. They told me to send an email instead. Hopefully some less useless people read the emails.

        • hmm . maybe i was just lucky that i got a good rep "gurleen". and there was a copy of the email transcript sent to my email now so i have the codes on hand (also written on a post it), you didnt take a screen shot?

          maybe there should be a PSA about how ebay are retracting all those emails without warning.. given that there were soooo many people that got claimed the VR glasses…

        • @kza2610: Yeah I should have but I didn't. I just kept the tab permanently open and figured I would just copy it from there when I wanted to use it. This morning when I turned on my computer and the tab loaded the message was gone. Yeah good idea. I imagine a fair few people are getting screwed. Might try live chat again if I don't get anywhere with this email.

  • I have the exact same issue, and live chat couldn't find it. They will "notify me by email", if they find anything, smh.

    • Wow! They must be pulling everyones unused credit emails, maybe they thought it would slip under the radar with all the promos going on :/ pretty ballsy of them…

      Good luck, hope you get your code back! I might quickly buy some mfi cables before they cancel the code or something…

    David, please know that eBay will send random credits to some members who participated on that survey. I apologise if you can't find that message any more, however, the system will not resent another $10 credit because it's system generated. If you still have other complaints, you may call us through this numbe:1800-322-928.

    Thanks for pointing this out. I have more success via live chat. They applied $10 credit off my next purchase!
