Agoda Cashback on Cashrewards

Hi All,

Bit of a noob with Cashrewards and OzBargain, I apologise if this has been dealt with before. I have searched the forum without an answer to my predicament.
I have used Cashrewards before and have a healthy balance in my account. I have again recently started using it on my trip to Europe next year. However the Agoda bookings are not being tracked (6.4% cashback). I have the Cashrewards Chrome extension, and another booking with British Airways was tracked and has already showed up after a few hours. Every booking I have made with Agoda does not show up. I made a booking at a hotel in London for over a $1,000 which still has not shown up. For some reason Agoda keeps opening a new tab every time I try to book the individual hotel. Also, some kind of Coupon gets applied every time which is not any where near 6% but I suspect this is because I'm a member with Agoda. So my query is, is it not being tracked because Agoda keeps opening new tab for the individual hotel? If so how do I prevent this from happening? or does Agoda only give the cashback in the form of a reduced discount? or will the cashback somehow show up in my account 90 days after I stay at the hotel even though it does not show it as being tracked?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards
Vali

  • Don't worry if your transaction did not get tracked.
If you log on to your Cashrewards account, and look at your Click History, so long as around the time of your booking, it showed your click from Cashrewards to Agoda.
Use that and file a claim for transaction not tracked. If you have prepaid, then you will have an invoice. You will have to upload the invoice, as evidence of the purchase for the cashback claim.

Cashrewards has made it quite easy nowadays to file such report. In your Click History page, next to the record for you going to Agoda, there should be a button called 'Send An Enquiry'. Use that for the cashback claim.

You can also contact them via their Contact Us link.

I have just got a claim that did not track resolved recently, and I have to say, they are very helpful and responsive.

    Hope this helps.

  • got my flybuys statement the other day, and noticed that you can now collect flybuys from groupon. If I go through the flybuys store AND activate cashrewards, does anyone know if it'll track both of them?? Anyone tried it??

  • I do hope yours got through.

I was once a happy CashRewards member until when my Expedia transaction got declined after waiting for 3 months. I made 3 purchases on 11-Aug for accommodation in with Expedia through Cashrewards.

    1. $982.83 Approved $54.05
    2. $1,509.71 Declined
    3. $731.60 Declined

All 3 transactions were tracked for 3 months, but only 1 was approved. I opened a claim with CashRewards, and here is what they emailed back:

"Thanks for being so patient while we investigated your Expedia Australia transaction.

We were super happy to have the opportunity to try to rectify your rewards, however we did not have success on this occasion. The store has notified us that your purchase with Expedia Australia has not been attributed to Cashrewards and therefore we will not be paid for this sale.

There are quite a few reasons why transactions may be attributed to another channel other than Cashrewards. Here are a few the store has specifically told us about:

    Having open other web pages (including search sites, social media, other store sites) or web browsers whilst visiting the store;
    Clicking though to another page from a banner or ad on the store's webpage whilst shopping;
Antivirus/cleanup application tasks may remove tracking cookies (which are required to track transactions).
Use of a coupon code not originated on the Cashrewards site

Even though you have not had success on this occasion, please keep trying! Last month we tracked over 60,000 transactions and gave thousands of dollars back to our members. Have another read over our cashback guidelines as these will assist you in your future purchases."

I am disappointed. I am not convinced that the reason that the transactions were declined or disqualified based one of the reason that was stated in the email. The fact that only 1 (out of the 3) transactions from Expedia was honoured. I did the exact same way along with all other 25 transactions and all have worked. Yes, the others were not as large as these 3 purchases. So it appears to be.

Perhaps I was just unlucky? For me, it is a matter of principle, so I resubmit with supporting evidence, invoices. And received another disappointing reply:

"We can understand this can be quite confusing as a transaction can track through Cashrewards, although cashback from a purchase made through us can be attributed to another marketing channel. There are many embedded cookies, coupons and links in many online stores which allows a single transaction to track through many different channels.

The marketing channel who obtains commission for a sale is the final channel that a transaction passes through. On this occasion, your transaction has tracked through Cashrewards, however we did not receive cashback for this purchase because another marketing channel was unknowingly involved with your sale.

Our cashback guidelines are set in place to prevent other channels being involved with sales, however we can not guarantee that sales will be attributed to us due to the dynamic and ever changing nature of the internet. Please rest assured that Cashrewards has not been paid for this sale."

So, in hindsight nothing is guaranteed; tracking cookie. The wonders of technology. I trust that Cashrewards is committed to making sure that if members make purchases through Cashrewards, members will earn their fair rewards. But in reality when such issue occur, it is your words against theirs.

    Just be warned.

    • Cashrewards has a section called Click History.
If you can demonstrate to them that the time of your purchase corresponds to the Click History when you click through via Cashrewards, that may help. To show that it was through them you transacted. But how much it will help, I am not sure.

  • +2

    Update.

I had initially given up and accepted it was bad luck, now I am happy that this issue has been resolved.

A special thanks to Andrew and TA who personally sorted out quickly with the troubled transactions.

Honestly I still could not fully understand why it happened (Technology side), as explained that the transactions could be attributed to another channel, affiliate marketing code gets overriden by another.

However Cashrewards is willing to settle this out of good will. This changes my perception and happy with the outcome.

I can say that Cashrewards is legitimate and will continue using with them.

Thank you and well done Cashrewards.

    Thumbs up!
