i am tempted to buy 4units for the family via HN
(still have the Amex deal linked up to my cards)
    4x $91 = $364 - $100 = $264

    $66each. hrmmm…
ill think about it for a bit

Buy one unit, 4 toothbrush heads…

  • No free shipping.. :(

Need $100 minimum.. for free shipping…

Have done a bit research. The review for pro 5000 quite awful. Not a good product.

    • I had the 5000 before. Had no issues. Just bought the 9000 from the recent Amazon UK deal. For $81, it's a good price. I think also a good product for that price…..
Never had any issus, are the reviews that bad?

      • how are 5000 / 9000 different from the oral B vitality tooth brushes?

        • Haven't received the 9000 yet.
The vitality is the basic one, usually in special for around $20 at Woolies?
I had one of those to try, and then bought the 5000. No comparison.
The different modes, pressure sensor, battery, over all feel…..
For $81, it's def worth it.

        • I have a 5000 one and the cheap vitality one feels… well cheap plus it doesn't do such a good job either and seems to chew through the brush bits quicker. Vitality doesn't have the 30s/segment timings (not that I use that) but the 5000 one seems way better overall. I've had one for 3 years, paid ~$60 when on special.

    Essential reading https://www.animated-teeth.com/electric_toothbrushes/oral-b-…

Basically get a 3000 or better for the "3D action" i.e. this is a great deal.

  • How long do these oral-b electric toothbrushes last for on average?

    • I've had one for about 5 years I think and it's still going.

The bases get super gunky and gross every few months though. I threw away the timer and holder ages ago because they're also gross. All you need is the small pop-out charger, brush, and head attached.

      • Can't you clean the base? :)

        • +5

When my car gets dirty, I throw it away and buy a new one.

        • Yes you can clean the charging base. It's all sealed.

It's not worth cleaning the holder (which holds spare heads - which you'd never have more than one or leave out anyway unless you share one brush with the family… ugh). They're just mold/dirty water collectors that chew up precious bench space. Better to just toss them out.

The timer I threw out because it became faulty. It also chews through batteries. Of course I later had Eneloops but then the thing broke.

The vibration/cleaning capacity can go down over time from gunk accumulating just below the cleaning head. You scrape it out from time to time with a fingernail and it will work better. But then also the battery degrades over time… which is fine considering it's mostly plugged in… then someone else plugs in a hairdryer and you've only got a day or two to realise and plug it back in otherwise it's completely dead until you charge it again.

Mine has become pretty beaten up over the years though and I might get a new one. Shrug. Sometimes it's nice to have new things. I'd get one for me and the missus and we can both have new matching ones.

got the dual handle bonus 5000 on ebay for 140ish a few months back. Definitely good price and product…

If you price match this at Myer, they have a $50 cashback from Oral b unsure if they will match because of the cash back though

    • Myer has these models

      Myer has these ones -
      1.PRO5000 Toothbrush with Smart Guide = $229
      2.ORAL-B Triumph 5000 Smart Guide Toothbrush IQ5000 = $225

Is the priceline model the 1st one?
No pictures of the boxes on the myer website.

      • Do they list the SKU? Good way to see if the same product.

      • they are exactly the same thing, I went in-store, but they wouldn't price match.

Had some priceline gift cards from the amex promotion, so I used those, 2 sets later and they are now charging.

    • David Jones is doing the price match. I just got 1 and applied for $50 cashback

      • Thanks unfortunately for me DJ's is too far away for it to be worth it :( Congrats though its an awesome brush.

      • I know it's a silly question….Do you know where is the receipt number on David Jones tax invoice?

  • Ah damn. I just bought the Diamond Sonicare from Amazon for $150. This would have been better value.

    • Same. Also GF just told me she has a voucher from Priceline. Add the $10 store voucher above……

      • I'm also tempted to buy one just as a backup since they're only $41 at Myer/DJ.

        • Bargain…….
At $4 it's worth every cent.

  • Good spotting! This will be an amazing Christmas present to my best friend!

    • Good friend…… Good price at $81

Thanks OP. Priced match at david jones + $50 cash back :)

    • Which $50 Cash back are you referring to? Thanks.

        http://www.mann-noble.com/braun-cash-back/

Only at Myers and David Jones.

        • Did you get the cashback coupon with your purchase or the coupon can be filled online?

        • strange. the online cashback form does not allow you to specify which product or attach a copy of the receipt

        • @Ryder: I just wrote an email to [email protected] and one of the staff told me to attach it within the email.

        • @Fatbo1: I sent them an email too and they told me to download the form from here, fill it out and send it in the post with a copy of the receipt:
          http://www.mann-noble.com.au/department-store-cash-back-form…

        • +1

@Ryder: I have emailed the form and receipt back to them. Let's see what they say…

        • How did you find out the cash back? I can't find any sign in David Jones or Myer mentioning this cash back.

        • @Fatbo1: Please let us know how you go.

        • @Fatbo1:did you get a response?

        • @bogstation: Received my $50 cashback cheque in the mail today :)

    • Which store? Just called Myer Melbourne and they won't price match. On the DJ website they only have the dual head pack.

      • +1

        DJ Highpoint

    • Price matched $91 or $81?

      • $91.

    • +1

Bargain and Absolute steal at $41. Well done.

    • Same at David Jones Doncaster. None left there.

Myer did not price match as their purchase price was almost double the sale price from Priceline.

    • Got one from Melbourne CBD David Jones, there were still about 4-5 left.

  • anyone know if we can we use priceline gift cards and still use the $10 off code? never used a priceline gift card before but extra few bucks off can't hurt

    • I think you can. Giftcards are different from the voucher.

    • I did in-store as Myer wouldn't price match.

  • How many oscillations does this one do?
OralB seems to hide this information now.

Oscillations is the only important factor between their toothbrushes.

      • Read the site, doesn't really state it.
        I currently have a 7000 and paid $160!
Reading this feels like the 5000 and 7000 is the same, so this is an absolute bargain!

        • It most definitely talks about the oscillation speed. That's the reason it says anything 3000 and above as they are all the same 40,000 or whatever it is.

        • @noise36:

40,000 is the pulsation, which isn't very useful.

The oscillation is the most important.
          8,000+ is the ideal.

If comparing toothburshes from OralB then compare using the oscillation.
They have removed this information now and simply forcing people to buy based on model number… making people think the higher number is better.

But in reality I think this model 5000 is identical to the 7000 with the only difference being the price tag and the packaging.

  • Myer won't pricematch, they will say below cost. Djs brisbane city had the dual handle bluetooth and older model in the single without bluetooth.

  • Bugger. No click and collect at Priceline…..

  • Called Myer Fountain Gate (Melbourne), they have it at $223 and won't price match.

  • Looks like these still use the NiMH rather than the Li-ion batteries. You'd expect with all these smart features the toothbrush would at least have updated battery technology.

There's a $15 off Oral B Toothbrushes in the "sisterclubs" big perks book. It can't be used with the $10 off but it's an extra $5 if you happen to have your mail laying around. Expires November 30.

    • What's the big perks book? Is that their catalogue?

      • I believe this is small pamphlet full of offers for the month that gets mailed out to Priceline members. I never receive mail from them though and I am a member.

        • Yep that one. Little pamphlet of deals.

Been sitting on my desk all month unopened until yesterday morning. So little bonus!

  • +2

Pricematched and picked up two from Eastland Myer. Im guessing it depends on who serves you. There are no more on the shelf, but could be some out the back. Also Eastland DJ doesnt stock Oral-B. Now im just figuring out how to make the cashback claim. Emailed them as well to make sure.

Also, does anyone know where the receipt number on a Myer receipt is located? Is it the barcode number? Thanks!

    • Thanks for the info. So definitely none at DJ Eastland? Was going in tomorrow as have an amex offer there. Thanks.

      • +1

Yea, they didnt even stock it there which i found pretty strange since they had it on their website. They only had Phillips ones. You can probably check out Glenwaverley. :)

        • Please keep us posted on how you go.

I am doing the same thing , just email them today.

  • People that pricematched at DJs, did they stock the bluetooth version?

    • Yes, they do.
Got the Pro 5000 from Macquarie Centre.

      • Haha, the same. I got the Pro 5000 from Macquarie Centre yesterday. Do you know where is the receipt number on the invoice? Is the one at the very bottom under the barcode?

        • That's the one i am using, but it's not clear so I just email them.

        • +1

@rcarlos108: Thanks for the reply. I emailed them last night and got a reply this morning telling me to post the cash back form and the copy of receipt.

        • @eleana: I might do that too. =]

  • Thanks OP, purchased two this afternoon at $81 each after checking if Myer could do them for $91 without any luck.

  • got one today at DJ for $91, no idea when expiry is for the $91 at priceline. Staff at DJ called a store that didn't stock the item so I was first told no. I called another priceline and then got DJ staff to call. Once they were certain it was the same model and the second store had stock they price matched it. Even the barcode was checked for the model comparison.

    • Sounds painful, though from what I understand that's what they are meant to do. It has to be in stock and the exact same model.

  • Managed a DJ's pricematch on $101 ($91 + shipping) today..

    • Great work. Which store?

      • Kotara NSW

        • Did you go to store or online? Asking as you are paying shipping.

        • @Gaggy:

In store.. Shipping was me justifying the match with the Priceline downstairs which was out of stock…

        • @SBOB: ah.. ok.
Just reminded me of Braun's cashback which is quite painful and old school style. You are on mercy of the data operator entering your data rather than you filling an online form.

  • Has anyone recognition from MannNoble that they have received your cashback claim? I sent mine in the post.

  • +1

^ Received both $50 cheques today. Posted forms 12/12 - no prior notice that they were on the way.

  • Has anyone not received their cashback yet? I sent mine via mail early December and still have yet to get mine. Ive sent a few emails to them but still no response.

    • Not received mine yet
