How to get a refund - Stuck between Vpay and Woolworths

I purchased $300 Woolworths Egift card during recent Cashrewards promotion and paid via Vpay card. The order was cancelled by Woolworths and said they have refunded the money. It's been 2 weeks but the funds never appeared in Vpay card.

I contacted Vpay and they said they didn't receive refund as yet. When I contact Woolworths, they say they need to send email to their Verification team to check the status as they don't have correct access. They tell me someone will contact me but it never happens. Separately, I have sent multiple emails to Everydaygiftcards and also lodged online enquiries but they never respond. I am stuck between these two.

How could I get my money back?

  • I cannot help specifically with your case. But in tricky instances like yours, it is probably better to call, than to send emails. Emails can be ignored. But if you call, you can keep escalating to the supervisor or someone higher up, to ask for timeframe of a response. I hope you get a resolution soon.

    • I'd argue the email gives you a paper trail.

Did you pay with your credit card? File a dispute with the bank.

      • You do have a point. Equally, I find that most of the time, the issues got resolved when I rang, hence, there was no need to write.

I also usually note the call, employee ID (if applicable), time of call etc, and if promised outcome does not eventuate, I will follow-up with writing as well.

The VPAY I understand is a debit card (am I wrong?), so the credit card chargeback may not apply.

        • +1

          It's a prepaid card

        • @vincentminhbui:

Sorry, I misread it and didn't twig.

          1. If you have a problem with a purchase made with the Card, or a dispute
with a merchant, you must deal directly with the merchant involved. If you
cannot resolve the dispute with the merchant, you can contact EML Client
Services on 1300 513 378 during business hours or alternatively you can
send an email to [email protected]. The cost for a live operator
telephone customer service call with EML Client Services is $3.99.
