  • Amazing! Just bought one

  • Great Deal OP, if I didn't already have a decent Samsonite bag (also from OzBargain - the scure deluxe) I'd jump on this.

    • +3

The 81cm version is over the size limit. Most airline has a 158cm size limit to the dimensions. Length + height + depth = 158 cm. I had no issue travelling with the 81cm but it is a risk.

      • I have the 81cm, not practical. More convenient to have the 75cm.

      • +1

Where is this rule re 158cm? I was going to get a large antler Aire and it just falls outside that rule too…

      • How strict are airlines with enforcing this rule? I agree better to be safe. I have a big black samsonite I'm not sure what dimensions it is though.

Will a 75cm bag be enough space for a typical 23kg limit flight?

        • +1

Size wise, should be. These day they tell you that it fits to airline regulation.

Weight wise, it's depends on how you pack it. I've seen people packing 35kg+ using vacuum bags.

  • Is the 10% coupon on all luggages or just the Samsonite ones

    • I'm pretty sure it's site wide.

  • Thanks OP! I've been waiting for a luggage deal for a long time! i've checked everywhere and this price is unbeatable.

  • Any idea what's the difference between this and the discontinued Cosmolite FL?
And does luggage gear provide invoice eligible for gst return? Thanks

    • +3

Firelite has the "water-resistance" rubber lining which provides reasonable protection from water ingress in case of light rain etc. If you click on the David Jones link, and go to the 3rd/4th photo, you can see the matte rubber lining directly overlaying the zipper. I believe Cosmolitr may not have it. Also some minor variances between Firelite v1/v2/v3 versus Cosmolite v2/v3 but generaly Firelite is a tad lighter. No idea about invoices from Luggage Gear tho

      • Thanks Roberto, ended up getting a 75cm.
        Thanks OP great deal

  • Got a job overseas next year and have been hoping I'd see some luggage go on sale. Eff yeah, OzBargaz~!

  • Thanks OP! I just signed up for this

  • +3

Damn it OP! I didnt want a luggage but now I got a luggage…

    • I needed to share the regret! :-)

  • Thanks OP! Bought one to pair with mate's silver Firelite. Laden with 23kg stuff, it remained in perfect shape after a hard and hard fall on a staircase.

  • Great deal! Thanks OP

  • Anyone know how long the promo lasts. Can't seem to find it.

  • Thanks mate, this has got to be the deal of the year for me now. Got a spare 75cm now in addition to my 3 other FLites v happy

    • +1

Thanks mate. My way of contributing for all the money saved …AND spent!

  • Cheers OP! Just bought one too. Their payment system is a little out of the ordinary though.

Time to keep scouting for a carry on luggage bargain

    • I'd recommend this one for carry on - use the same code for 10% off!

      https://www.luggagegear.com.au/high-sierra/9687-high-sierra-…

      • So you've never had an carry on issue on a domestic Virgin flight that has the following limits?

        48cm long x 34cm wide x 23cm deep

        • +2

Nope it's within the limits for most airlines (Qantas / AirAsia / Virgin International) - for Virgin Domestic if you have no check-in luggage just check-in online and print your boarding pass, never been questioned at the gate. The few times I've been questions about carry-on is at check-in (when you need to check-in luggage or for international flights when you cannot print your boarding pass) and the only thing they checked was the weight < 7 Kgs

Remember most airlines allow you to take a notebook as an additional item and don't check your pockets, so when you check-in if your bag is > 7 Kgs make sure you take out your notebook, put anything small but heavy (e.g. powerbanks) in your pocket and wear heavy shoes / jumper / coats.

  • Great deal OP, I've put an order for 1 and might put an order for a second one tomorrow.

Can I recommend that you put the price with coupon code in the subject line because that's the awesome deal after all ;)

  • I just came back from a holiday but this well come in useful on my next one cheers

  • I'm getting $350 before coupon. Did the price just increase?

    • Just checked and its still showing as $299 prior to coupon. Not sure why you're seeing otherwise?

    • Me too, what a shame

    • Ok back to $299 again… weird.

      • +2

Coupon not working now for me. Expired?

        • +1

          same here

  • Tried the code and doesn't look like it's working anymore, is anyone else able to confirm?

  • +1

Yeah coupon looks expired, was it a short sale?

  • +4

By trial and error worked out old coupon TCLUGGAGE still works!

  • Sold out? Says Product no longer available

  • 81cm still available

Samsonite cosmo didn't survive the car test but did pretty well on the others! Curv tech and strength would be pretty similar to firelite despite being a bit lighter I would've thought.

  • I never had one of this brand. Is the material solid enough to cope with some tough airport luggage staff? It looks like plastic and easily cracked?

    • I've had this for 2 years, and I travel frequently (domestic and international). NO issues other than the usual scratches.

  • I'm also after a samsonite carry on suitcase within the dimensions allowed for flights on Jetstar etc

Are there any good combo deals that would be better?

  • Unfortunately, the product you have selected is no longer available.

Looks out of stock to me.
The red and black versions are $509, which is no deal.

  • +1

Own this and strongly recommend against it.

Broke on the third leg of my return from the UK, first time I used it. The plastic strap popped off. Not a massive deal, I taped it down. That's how it stayed.

Zipper failed on the second trip, which I managed to fix myself, and then again on the third. This time I got it repaired by a tailor, but lost the use of the lock.

The warranty is fairly useless. Unlike, Victorinox for example, you have to arrange the courier to and from the repairer. By the time you do the maths, you won't bother.

Apart from that, the configuration of two mesh bags on either half isn't all that convenient. At least, though, when the external zipper fails, the contents will be held inside.

Go read the reviews on Amazon. I wish I'd taken them seriously before I blew my money on it.

It's light, the wheels are nice, but it's a rubbish bag to rely on when you're a long way from home.

  • Got offered the Samsonite liteshock as well. Black. Seems like a decent replacement?

    • Me too, is that just as good? Or better?

      • Did you receive contact via email or a phonecall to discuss?

        • Phone call.

    • +1

It's lighter at 2.5kg. Was searching for a deal for that when I stumbled on this. Your lucky!

      • Lighter and just as strong?

Thanks Arbit for your post. Amazing deal!!!

    • +2

yeh me too, via phone call just now, and I wanted a black anyway, so a good buy turned out to be even better, thx ozbargian

      • So do you just call up and tell them that you wanted to purchase the samsonite but it is sold out and they will offer you the lite-shock?

        • +1

Nope, I believe they only call people who already have purchased it and paid for it.

They called saying it's out of stock, so they offered to replace it with the Lite-shock. No input from my side. All I had to do is agree to it, or select a refund instead. Of course, I picked the luggage replacement.

If you haven't sent an order yet, they might just say it's out of stock.

        • yes, them called me :)

        • @Zaenille: ah ok thanks

        • @Zaenille:

Yeah that's what happened to me. Great service. But I'm keen on a non black colour…which is not available at that price for the Lite Shock.

Are there many black hard case samsonites on planes? I've got a soft black samsonite and there are millions

        • +1

I find that black is the most common color, but most people have soft generic looking luggages. The hard cases (Liteshock, Firelite) look a lot more unique and vary more in design, so it'll be easier to spot it in the airport.

        • @Zaenille:

Yep cool, would really prefer a blue or silver compared to black but it's a great deal on a newer product.

          Enjoy yours!

        • @G Wok: I tried calling to ask if they have the silver available for the replacement for the Firelite, and they said they were only offering the black Liteshocks for replacements.

I, too, would have preferred a silver or a white (not blue though, not my thing), but I'd take black no problemo.

        • @Zaenille:

Yeah..silver looks sweet. Good of them to make the black deal they didn't have to. But I wonder why colour makes such a big diff for an identical product

        • @G Wok: Yeah, same. Maybe they overstocked on blacks and would prefer if that got whittled down?

  • +1

    FFS Sold out fml

  • Yeah I got called about the replacement done deal I'd rather have black anyway

  • Did anyone pay for the luggage and NOT get offered the upgrade?

    • I got mine around 6am and got called today at 1pm for the offer. Although they said the new ones would arrive in stock next week so I probably wont see mine for a week or 2.

  • Damn, I snoozed and lost again… :(

  • Is the lite-shock being offered, a newer product? And better? Tried googling for comparisons but doesn't seem to be much out there at the moment.

    • Pretty sure the only difference is the new model is
      -lighter
      -smaller dimensions but increased capacity.

They are just incremental improvements, havent seem them in flash but I doubt they would look any different from each other

  • Just got a notification that my order has been dispatched

  • Just got my suitcase :D
