Can Anyone Recommend a Good Mattress Please

I am after a firm mattress for under a $1000. Located in Sydney and would prefer to try before I buy.

Thanks in advance!

I looked around at a few, the Koala was ok but I prefer the sides to be a bit firmer. I ended up getting a sienna firm from www.ausbeds.com.au. Its alot thicker than the koala, and I found it more comfortable, and theres a few different firmnesses. they have a showroom in marrickville and they delivered mine on the same afternoon.. The guys are easy to deal with and not pushy at all, it came to 950 including delivery.

Usually the firm ones are the "cheap" ones.
This is great for me and my back and my pocket… because I hate sleeping in a cloud.

    Try SuperAmart down in Auburn.
    Or any Fantastic furniture.
There's also local bed/mattress stores around the city that you can try.

    • we are not super rich people but from my many many trips to fantastic furn i really think they dont have good quality products, more to ok/budgets.

still its a good way to spend time, wandering at their big store.

  • Ikea ones are great. from experience

    • Which one do you recommend from ikeas range?

      • I use Morgedal. I personally think it's best. It's not spring, it's not too soft and not to hard. To sleep on it is usually the one thing I want to do most nights.

      • I personally use a Havoc mattress, pocket springs. But it's all personal preference. You can go to ikea and try them out and just buy the one that is best for you

      • The natural latex one is really good!

I have a Koala mattress, it is rather soft. I find it comfortable, but my partner whos ~110kg says its 'toooo soft' , but i do think they have a showroom in Syd that you can have a test?

    • Hi kza2610, thanks for your feedback! We do have a showroom in Sydney located at 11 Little Burton Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010 :)

Worth checking the wiki entry on mattresses for a quick comparison on them, might help narrow your options

  • we checked out bedsonline at Rose Bay today. They have some great prices on Australian made name brands (you can get Sealy's and A.H Beard for under the $ik mark). I had Read some dodgy reviews online about their customer service which made me hesitant but we had an excellent experience. Honey took care of us and was very knowledgeable, went the extra mile to check delivery interstate and not pushy at all. Worth a visit I reckon

  • I have a Koala and I've found it very comfortable. I'm a side sleeper so the softness is perfect.

    • Thanks for your great feedback! We're happy you're having a koalaty sleep :)

  • Check out the prince brand. Don't think pull find this in mainstream store. I bought mine from an Asian furniture/bedding store

Very good value in my opinion for a firmer than usual mattereses.

Pretty sure it's been discussed on ozb before as well.

Ozmatress.com.au gets my vote.. We have the grand master (which is above your budget) and it's an impressive mattress for the price.. M

  • more money may not necessary mean more comfort, it really depends on how you sleep and whether the mattress suits your sleeping style,

unless you have a really awkward sleeping position that is actually bad for your health, your mattress should be accommodating you rather than you changing to suit the mattress.

Typically mattresses last about 10 years…

$1000 over 10 years not that much money. especially when you spend so much time on it,

  • I highly recommended the One ACC bedding website which has given me a comfortable mattress. I was suffering from back pain so that's why I couldn't able to sleep properly. My colleague suggests to buy a mattress from one ACC bedding, Truly speaking they have given me a comfortable mattress that is able to reduce my back pain. For more information visit their website https://www.onebedding.com.au/product/health-care & call them on 1300 010 222

  • Hi, I had bought 2 Giselle mattresses from ebay Australia, we have been using them for the past 2 years and I am very happy customer. I was recommended this brand by a few friends. All the best.

  • We have two single Slumberland Stonehenge, well above 1000$ but very firm. Worthwhile waiting for a sale I guess https://www.snooze.com.au/products/slumberland-stonehenge-ma…
