hi guys

trying to buy a perfume online (prezzie for a male friend), cant really try them obviously so help me if you can…

My idea was to get either Azzaro Chrome or CK obsession…

the ratings for those 2 are pretty good. Any other scent i should consider?love the old fashion green polo one, but hard to find now.

thanks :)

I like the Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Parfum. Its pretty good. Not cheap though

    • thanks, its around 100$ right? bit much :( ill note that down tho! :)

      • Yeah, its over $100 for the 100ml maybe there's a smaller bottle for cheaper. Also comes in EDT which is cheaper but not as good.

    • That's my go to perfume

    • Yeah! That smells sooooo gooood on men!

  • Do they actually use Cologne is the first question

      Ideas Cologne/Perfume for Men

Here's an idea: Don't buy perfume for a man.

You really live up to your name, you stingy duck!

  • If you're near a Chemist Warehouse they have Chrome Intense EDT 100ml for $29.99
    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/78037/Chrome-Intense…

    • yes i was browsing their site, then compared the azzaro and the CK online and they have good reviews.. same price both of them

      • Two years ago I bought the normal Chrome EDT as a gift for $30 at Priceline. Later that day at David Jones we saw it for $120.

        • nice scent?i see they have the intense as well

        • @tagniteroi: It suited my son-in-law but at the same price I suggest getting the Intense if possible.

        • thanks :)

i just wrote cologne because some guys dont say perfume… but yes looking for perfume.

Just know there are differences in fragrances:

EDP - Or "Eau De Parfum" is usually more expensive, but it worth it. Because the smell is usually more noticeable and it sticks to your clothes/skin for much longer.

EDT - Or "You Da Toilet" is usually scatter priced some being cheap, other's being expensive and hoping consumers don't notice.

EDC - Or "Eau De Cologne" is usually a perfume that is diluted down very much. It is light After-shave, and won't stick on your skin or clothes much long.

Why people need perfume ? Coz they smell ???

    • +2

because its nice when a guy smells nice… not like sweat or hot smell… same way guys like a girl that smells nice :) i doubt the perfume would help if they smell like fish market… hehe

      • -7

        its nice

In other words it does nothing. Although one study did find that it constricts blood flow to the genital region in females aka boner killer

constricts blood flow to the genital region in females aka boner killer

          Females get boners?

          @Scrooge McDuck:

The ones that Diji1 visits do ; )

      • Well that is subjective… none of the females I know like guys to smell of perfume

        • im sure there are plenty of guys and girls that dont like perfumes and are allergic to them as well.. i like it and my friends like it..so easy presents for us :)

      • +1

because its nice when a guy smells nice… not like sweat or hot smell…

        What about protein farts?

        • I like it when I fart, and it squeals long… sounds like Donald Duck!

    • I'm pretty sure you've asked that same exact question in every perfume related post. Each time, someone gives your an answer, but it seems you just ignore it each time?

Bvlgari Aqva is something that is good for most ocassions. and decent sillage.

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/72703/Bvlgari-Aqva-E…

    • thanks :)

    • I love this too it is one of my go to scents… but stay clear of bvlgari aqva marine I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this, I get reminded of salt and seaweed on the dry down it's nauseating

  • +1

Armani Code is strong and lasts all day.

  • Personally , im not a fan of CK obsession for MEN,it smells too feminine and woody for my liking (more of a winter fragrance). What I would recommend and thumbs up is INvICTUS…it smells fresh and fruity and not too overpowering, perfect for a fresh summer scent day and night.

  • +2

Try Armani Mania. I really like this perfume :)

    • It's not easy to get cheap though…

    • +2

I agree, love my Mania manfume, @ duty free I paid over $100 for it :(

    • I layer this with ck one (aka expensive air freshener).

      Nice smell which lasts

  • +1

Jean Paul Gualtier Le Male maybe. Montblanc is quite nice, too.

  • Thanks guys for the options… really appreciate it

    • LYNX… doesn't get better than that!!

    Sex Panther FTW

    • -1

      It's a formidable scent

  • Zara have a few nice scents. They are cheap but don't last long

    • agree, have one in the glovebox for emergencies.

  • Lynx. Supposed to help pull the hot women in.

  • Some of my favourites
Citrus - Issey Miyake pour homme
    Floral - Hugo boss bottled
    Aquatic - Bvlgari Aqva
Spicy - Chanel Antaeus (nb you won't find this cheap)

But perfumes are a really personal choice and smell slightly different on everyone- can you have a day out with your friend and try on a few and surprise him with one he likes?

  • DOLCE & GABBANA the one
Dolce&Gabbana The One for Men is an elegant, sensual perfume that is decidedly modern but also a unique, timeless classic. It is the natural, masculine version of Dolce&Gabbana The One. An Oriental Spicy perfume which is developed from the harmony of Tobacco notes and refined spices.

    Top

The vibrant elegance of the top notes comes from the mouthwatering combination of Grapefruit, Coriander and Basil.

    Heart

Spicy and warm notes of Cardamom and Ginger drive the strong sensual signature of Dolce&Gabbana The One for Men.

    Base

The perfume over time yields to the authentic masculinity of the deep dry down of Tobacco and Ambery notes along with Cedarwood.

It has a very sexy smell!

As a woman , can i weigh in and say that YES,we like our men to smell good (just as i am sure you guys would prefer women to smell of honeysuckle and jasmine, rather than old sweat, foot odour and cigarettes).
It means they take a little pride in themselves ( "I don't want to smell like a teenage boy…i want to smell like a man who has a little more style…and better hygiene, than that" ),care about what image they project to the world (IE: "I may a corporate businessman in suits, but under this Armani beats the heart of a rebel..and my fragrance hints at that " ) or they realise it is possible to be transported from the day to day 9-5 drag to somewhere you would rather be (" Oh yes, i remember that fragrance i wore back on holiday in Europe / America / The Whitsundays…wearing this takes me back immediately").
To me,anything with an aquatic feel is a winner (it is easy for most men to wear, most people to be next to,can take you from the dead of winter to summer in a flash AND just feels fresh)…think:

Aramis,New West (vintage original, and one that i hunt the earth to find..it isn't easy, but you can get it from the US,and quite cheaply too.I love hubby wearing that)

Armani,Acqua Di Gio (super fresh and easy to wear…plus you can pick it up from Chemist Warehouse for about $50).

If you really,REALLY want to splash out (maybe not for a friend, but for the SO in your life) and want to have something you too can wear,go for Creed, Virgin Island Water.I got that this year after a holiday, and if i want to be back at Airlie Beach instantly,i ,(and hubby) wear this and we are there (warning…cheap it isn't:$200 or so,but damn it smells good, isn't something every second person has on,and lasts for ages).
However,if the two names you mentioned are really what you have in mind,go the Azzaro.

    • Good useful input. Creed is definitely the very best of even high-end fragrances … whenever I am in David Jones in Sydney I get liberal with it although I remain too frugal to purchase it. My favourite is still Imperial Millesime. It is somewhat perplexing that a fragrance can be excellent for person A but detrimental to person B. Years ago I worked with an attractive 29-year-old lady who, having tried many fragrances, regularly used Brut 33 After Shave!

Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf. Not cheap, however you get what you pay for. See below.

    • 1 spray and it gets you through until the next full moon.

    • 2 sprays lets you part crowds just like moses

    • 3 sprays and you don't have to wash your shirt….ever again. You will literally just smell the same for the life of that shirt with 3 sprays.

    • 4 sprays - who knows, un-chartered territory.

It's not for the faint hearted…But if you want your man friend to have a strong, masculine scent with 0 fruit and all that other crap, then this is your one!

  • Mont Blanc Legend. It's a good perfume and price is good at CW (http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/72713/Mont-Blanc-Lege…)

  • I recommend the Hugo Boss Bottled intense or the Armani code black. The new Armani code perfumo is absolutely amazing, easily lasts the day and then some really nice but is a bit on the expensive side.

  • One Million Intense by Paco Rabanne is good and is around 75 maybe.

    • Agreed.

+1 For men who smell good.

DIOR Eau Sauvage: http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/eau-sauvage-… also available in xtreme version, it is potent.

I have Both and have used for 30 years (Eau Sauvage) and the past 10 years for the Allure.

    Highly recommended.

  • Armani Code is really nice, thats what I have.Got it as a prezzie a while back and my wifes friends seem to ask her a lot on what it was as they like it.
Subtle scent lasts a good while and not overpowering.
