  • I have an old model 90cm DeLonghi cooktop. The buttons and marking around them are no longer readable. It is not very easy to clean. The ignitor for the wok burner does not work well (distanced too far), and it is quite a pain to clean. The flames from the wok burner are not even, because gas is escaping underneath the ring. The black top of the burners are flaking rust underneath. The rubber feet of the racks all come off, making the pots slant if one or more is missing.
I don't know whether such wear and tear is normal, but I may look at a different brand next time. Ours does not seem built to last.

    • how old…? most reviews i found i regards their recent cooktops have been positive?

      • I suspect about 15 years old, though these problems have existed since it was <10 years old.
It's not a bad cooktop, but I just think it suffers from design flaws.

hopefully their quality is more consistent these days ;)
i like that this one has a very useful (for me at least) layout, wok burner to the side, safety cutout and simmer controls…trivet looks durable and overall design is nice. 2 year warranty and features that most cooktops dont have under a $1000 are the reasons i went for it. also sub $700 price point means were getting it and installation ($230) all done for under $1K

@franco cozzo: YES! The layout is way better than ours. We have one of those silly long grill burners in the middle (which we never use - cooktop came with the house). This one looks more sensible. Putting buttons at the front means improved spacing sideways. I'm upvoting because it is much cheaper than elsewhere.

@Make it so: yep layout was a key factor…

being able to use the wok burner and have access to other burners was a must and as you pointed out having the knobs positioned across the front improves overall layout across the cooktop and allows more space for pots and cooking rather than the controls. this one looks really easy to clean as well

thanks for the upvote… i agree the price is nice, hopefully it feels/performs like a $1400 cooktop ;)

  • stainless steel is so difficult to clean. if you don't like spending extra time cleaning look for glass cooktops.

If you want to remove sticky greasy stuff from stainless steel (and other surfaces), check out Oomph. It has the cheesiest name imaginable, but it is very useful. I think it used to be marketed mostly as a glue and sticker remover (which it does really well), but this stuff is very good for removing grease (e.g. from rangehoods or appliances placed close to where you fry things) and doesn't leave a lot of streaks if you wipe with a dry paper towel afterwards.
