BestforPet Plan/National Vet Care

Has anyone had any experience with Best for Pet plan?
It seems to me a better value than pet insurance. Locations doesnt seem to work on the website but I know there's a clinic reasonably close.
Thoughts?

  • If a pet only needs routine care it seems good, if it is injured and needs an expensive procedure, it only saves you 10% of the cost from what I've read

    • Yeah I've just been reading a lot about how many times people have their claims rejected so I thought I would self insure for that and use this for routine care.
      Do you have pet insurance?

      • No. I always thought it wasn't worth it and if my dog got sick I'd just treat him within my means, but he just tore a ligament in his leg and it's $3000 surgery

        • Ouch! Does your vet offer maybe a discount if you can pay in cash?
I can't find any good stats(at least not easily accessible or free) on percentage of claims paid and how much because I've read people having insurance for years and then they need it for something like a costly surgery and it gets rejected or small amount covered which I then think if I save the amount the premium would cost perhaps by the time I'd really need to use it I might have enough or close to saved.

        • @ozbargainer888: exactly what's just happened to my sister, her dog just has an op, cost $2500.
She pays $1400 a year for pet insurance, first claim they say no because you can't prove their health ( she got the dog when it was two) .
She had already told them that when signing and has emails and they still took the premium but now won't pay.

        • @PVA: That's exactly what I keep reading and hearing from people I know. I know it's the negative experiences that are most vocal but not many positive stories. I think I might just do this prevention plan and save a "premium" amount every month for future big costs.

        • @ozbargainer888:
looking at the site, I dont think the basic is worth the money either.
you wont spend that going to a vet once a year for checkups, and thats all it really covers.
