  • Appointment required? How to make a booking? Last time the store in Westfield Sydney didn't bother polishing the glass.

    • Last time this offer was on, I did not make an appointment. Just walked up to the store, was polite to the staff and said I'd wait until she had a chance to look at my watch. Was done and dusted within 20min.

If your glass wasn't polished last time, why didn't you ask them?

One staff was changing my watch's battery while I was paying to have the band on my mother's Swatch replaced. When I got my watch back I did not notice the face wasn't polished.

        • There is only so much they can do. It's not a machine polish, they're not taking off a layer of plastic which is what you'd need to do to remove any more than very light feather scratches.

Does this offer extend to Tissot watches?

    • I'm wondering the same thing!

      • And Omega too if anyone can advise.

        • Would you trust your planet ocean to swatch watch staff?

        • @gadget:

I wouldn't trust my omega with omega staff.

  • Good deal :-)

  • Have owned several Swatch watches since the early 2000s. This has always been a standard service.

      Free battery change always included?

      • I got my battery replaced last Saturday for free, and the time before that. So yes.

        • Same, but always at the Emporium store.

      • +2

Oh I walked into the swatch store and asked for a replacement battery and was charged $10
I didn't have the watch on me though so she just gave me the battery

    • Heuer or TAG Heuer?

  • Can the watch be a brand under the Swatch group?

      rolex….

Doubt it. Otherwise owners of Breguet, Harry Winston, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz, Léon Hatot, Omega, Longines, Rado, Union Glashütte, Tissot, Balmain, Certina, Mido, Hamilton, Flik Flak and Calvin Klein quartz watches will be lining up…

  • They put on heavy sales tactics when you ask

    • +2

Not for me. They suggested I look around while waiting. Then approached again "can I help you", just the same as walking into any shop.

I feel for these sales guys, people hate being approached but then if they don't approach they are hounded for "standing around when I need help".

Battery changes are actually free all year round apparently. They sent an e-mail about it in April.

    • +1

      April 1st?

      • Lol u farni

      • +1

No, they actually sent it on April 23. Saved the e-mail in my inbox so that when they try to charge me, I can be all but I have this e-mail …

What parts require servicing in a battery powered quartz watch, other than a drop of oil in the spindle?

    • +1

Sistem 51 Irony range has drop in replaceable movements but it will be some years until they required this

  • Is it safe to presume this would also apply to the Swatch Kids range Flik Flak?

    • I would suggest anything inside a Swatch store, so yes.

    • I asked, they said yes. My watch has butterflies inside!

  • Cheers OP, got 3 of our swatches done. Battery and Polish.
Wouldn't of known abt this if it weren't for OZb!

  • Nowhere near a store, but if they do it maybe after the Christmas shopping time, Ill trying in SYD. The battery on my Swatch stopped about 25 years ago.

  • Thanks OP - had 2 swatches with a dead battery, they were really nice in the shop and I didn't even had to schedule an appointment, just showed up on Saturday afternoon. Saved me $30 WOOT!

  • Would like to know if I can bring in my Omega for a clean

Can confirm this offer is available all year round. I assume because they haven't marketed the brand very well in Australia, it's a very early 90s brand. That said, I still have 6 or 7 of them and with this and other free services going, would buy more at DFO South Wharf. You can also buy bands off eBay and ask them put them on the watch free of charge.

Warranty is worthless though (from experience), so stick with the metal/non-clear plastic ones. I've had one break within 3 months, 2 years (straight after warranty). Others have been going 20 yrs, 8 yrs (Irony watches).

    Overall, good value.

  • I remember going to the swatch group service centre to repair my automatic watch under warranty.

While I was there, people were dropping off and picking up their quartz Omega, Longines, Rado for servicing.

I felt like saying 'you fools, go get your battery changed at the shopping centre for $15'.

Similar to people taking their 8yo Merc/BMW/Audi to the dealer for servicing.
