Optus S7 $56.5 7GB 24/Mths Student Discount Now Charged $58.5

Hi, did anyone else sign up for the S7 with Optus for $56.5 per month (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262524) after student discount being charged extra $2 per month now? They used to take 10% student discount off $85 Plan first but are now taking it off $65 making the plan $2/Month extra ($56.5 -> $58.5). Yes I know im being stingy, its only an extra $2 a month but after assuming that it would be $56.5 for the full 24 months, and being charged that amount on my first 2 bills are they allowed to jack up the price on the 3rd and subsequent months?

    Are you getting paper statements? Did you use premium SMS or anything else outside your included value?

      No paper only online, and Excess and Excluded charges are $0.00 when I check my usage.

    Ya, I am also paying $58.50. But as you said, it's not much so I didn't really bother to chase it up but if anyone knows anything, would be happy to know lol.

      When I signed up, I used the chat function and saved the chat for my records. They do the uni days percentage discount first, then minus the $20 monthly discount. They have tried to do it the other way with me, equalling $58.50 but aknowledged that they counted wrong. One could argue that it is only a $2 difference but I triple confirmed in chat that it was $56.50. I also had another rep state that too. So, for me, I am sticking to my guns to get that original price.

    Same here. They have stuffed up two months in a row. Tomorrow I will be calling again (for the third time) to rectify the account. First time they tried to charge $85. I called them and changed it back to $56.50. I paid. Get the next bill and it is another $85 plus and extra $6.50 remaining from last bill. I called again. They rectified. I now got a message saying I owe $63. That amount was "overdue" as I was waiting for them to rectify the original error. Out of good faith, I have paid that bill (I may have zigged when I should have zagged on that one). Someone is failing maths at Optus. Back at them tomorrow.

      I don't think they have stuffed up. More likely they have corrected it so they only give the 10% discount of the $65, not $85

        Ya … this seems to be the case. I actually asked and they said it would be 10% off the $65. This was after I got it rectified though so not sure if they are being dodgy or this is just how it is…

        Quite possibly. Things just haven't worked out at their end. I am sure it will get sorted in then end though.0
