I wonder if I can claim TRS on this if I buy it since it is sold by "DickSmith".

  • No S7 Edge deals? :(

    • $839 not really a deal if it's grey stock.

Overseas based businesses generally don't charge GST. That is why they are cheaper than local stock.
A lot of companies have built their business model around being cheaper than Oz based companies - by the amount of the GST. Seems unfair to Australian based companies…

    • Yeah I just realised that Dick Smith was bought by Kogan. I have been gone for a year and I come back to many changes it seems.

There doesn't seem to be any S7 going locally for $686 + 10% though, unless there's a big ebay sale or something.

    • Aussie businesses can sell grey stock too, if they wanted to (eg. Kogan and Kogan HK), but that's if they're willing to hassle themselves with all the other things like shipping from/to overseas and warranty with manufacturers' overseas repair centres etc.

They'll have to rethink their business model in six months when the new GST import laws come into effect.

  • I very much doubt you can claim GST on this given it's delivered from HK.

  • Doesn't look like it has B28 either

    • Hi AngryMan

Sorry for the noob question. I've seen a few comments in the past about grey vs local and that grey may not have all the local frequencies covered. If the phone has the frequency of your provider does it matter if you don't have B28 or other band ? (I'm on Aldi (Telstra)) I'm interested in the S7 but I don't know if no B28 is important. Do I go local ?

      Thanks

    • I'm worried about no 700mhz too, is that a big problem if you're with Telstra?
