Tell your friend that its very friendly to return back in 60 days.

      • You realise they likely have to throw the plates ect away right? They are food related items and could be tampered with.

      • +6

wow you returned a USED milk frother and plastic plates. scum

        • -3

Wow, much wannabe moral high-ground here.

To reiterate: UNUSED sealed-in-plastic clean disposable plates, bought 24 hours before. And why would they throw that away? You guys a bit slow or something? That makes zero sense, of course those items can and will be resold, I even saw them taking them back out into the store.

And for the milk frother, I returned it because it was not right for me after genuinely trying to like it and keep it. That's the intent of the policy, and that is exactly how I used it. But yes a consequence that item would no doubt have to be thrown away.

    • +12

The intent of the return policy is it removes the risk of buying and finding it's not right for you for whatever reason.

Abusing it this way is despicable.

      • -1

I would never do that. Just hanging on to hope that I can get a XB1 S for <$300 after Christmas! Apologies for the poor joke.

  • +14

At this rate I'll have a 4k TV in my cereal box.

  • Can anyone suggest where I can find xbox 360 adapter

  • Does anyone know if these battery chargers are any good?

  • I wonder what resolution the VR camera records at?

    • -2

      its potatoXtomato resolution

You need high resolution for VR.

      • -1

On YouTube you can change the resolution of the VR videos to be anything from SD to 4K/UHD. Ideally higher resolution is best, but that doesnt mean every VR camera is going to record at 4K (or do it well, especially at a $200 price point), hence my question. The image doesn't tell me much either. However I probably dont need a 4K VR camera, if it does FHD that should suffice for my needs to play around and test it.

    • The VR camera can be had for $150 at Nowra Aldi on clearance

      • +1

Thanks, but it'd probably cost me the $50 to get to Nowra and back.

How's the Tv compared to Samsung?

    • +2

Well, this is a TV… Worth about $500 whereas Samsung is a multi billion dollar global corporation. It really depends what you want to do though as to which is best.

      • -3

Samsung are the best. Hardly ever fail and if they do you have international support and parts always available. These Bauhns are the worst. Fail quickly. No parts and no service outside the warranty.

        • LG is better than Samsung. LG make OLED

  • ahh aldi! bring back the bloody 65" model for $799!

  • looks like a decent price for 4k but unless its @120HZ or higher then imo it's not worth buying, especially since TV's are kept for 3-5years I don't want to be stuck @60hz

TV prices are defiantly coming down compared to what I paid for my TV 4 years ago

  • Stay well away from any Aldi Bauhn TV. They used to have a 2 year warranty now only 1 year. They will swap or refund during the 12 month warranty (if any are available) But otherwise absolutely no support or parts available for these TVs. Junk TV!

    • +1

You still have warranty past their voluntary 12 months statment. If it failed any time in the first few years you would be well within your rights to request a repair or replacement.

      • -2

Sorry. Totally wrong! You would have to prove it was due entirely to a manufacturing fault. You would need an experts opinion and that would cost at least $150 if anyone is willing to stick their neck out. Highly unlikely and wouldn't appear in court to testify anyway. Then would cost more in legal fees than its worth and no guarantee you would win. 12 months is all you get. especially with Aldi. Maybe Samsung would come to the party within 18 months. The rest is history.

Furthermore Aldi cut warranty on these TVs from 2 years to 1 year a) because they can b) to reduce the amount of warranty claims. That's business.

        • +4

          Er no.

Read the info from the ACCC
          https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/Warranties%20and%20refu…

A TV that fails after 13 months is not of merchantable quality. Customer is covered by warranty irrelevant of what terms ALDI put stating a voluntary warranty of 12m.

You dont need an experts opinion and you dont need a court and for people to testify. You would go to a small claims tribunal, you really think any retailer is going to bother to show up over a tv? You dont need representation.

Note: "Some voluntary warranties (which include
manufacturers’ warranties) do not cover all types
of damage or defects. However, problems that
are not covered by a voluntary warranty may still
breach a statutory warranty or condition. For
example, if the fault means the goods are not of
merchantable quality, a consumer may still be
entitled to a remedy under their statutory rights."

I have looked after returns of electronics in retail. I have delt with the relevant ACC/Fair trading regarding warranty for several customers, pretty much nothing you said is correct. One thing i will give you is they made the warranty 12 months to save $$. They know few people with argue the point out of warranty. They should though because aldi would not contest it.

          Edit: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-06-07/broken-but-out-of-warr…
          article on it:
"For example, if consumers generally buy a television with a reasonable expectation for it to last five years, then they may have a statutory guarantee against the retailer that lasts substantially longer than the one year manufacturer's warranty."

  • Xiaomi Mi Box - any idea where we can get one from?

    • aliexpress, geekbuying, banggood.

  • This or the viano in bigw?

  • does the tv support HDCP 2.2?

  • Damn it Aldi, stop tempting me!

  • Plenty of tv stock at East Burwood VIC

  • No TV's left at Gilles Plains SA, sold out this morning but Modbury have a few left.

Massive queue at ALDI Mirrabooka at opening.
Was all fairly orderly, until one woman tried to take both the last two, and it got a bit loud with neither lady wanting to let go.

They brought more TVs out on trolleys, shrinkwrapped in bundles of 4. Not enough for everybody who wanted one.
ALDI would have known what the demand would be, so seems like illegal bait advertising to me. They may have had 16 or 20.

    • Aldi should have limited to one per cutomer according to their terms and condition.

  • Noticed the new Xbox one 1tb bundle at Aldi Warriewood, NSW today. Looks like the first generation model. $279 includes Halo 5, Forza 6 and Rise Of The Tomb Raider. Not sure if there retail games or just download codes.

The $24.99 Gmaes at the same store were Forza Motorsport 5 and Minecraft

This seems to be stock left over from 55" BAUHN UHD TV $499 Aldi deal - marked expired on 23/12 likely due to reported lack of stock. (Pointed out by Steptoe)

Being sold at same price by same supermarket - so no new deal, seems like this is at best basically a dupe & should be added to that deal & unexpired.

Also, there is probably not enough stock at that 1 store for a deal. No stock level indicated by OP. Reports were that little stock was available in first minutes to meet demand at some stores. So unlikely to be much stock 3 weeks later.

      • Don't believe that My 3 local stores I can go to, one had 10 yesterday 26th December, and if i remember correctly 3 in one store and 4 in another today. I would say the general public have cottoned on to how ordinary the Bauhn TV's are.
With a 3 year warranty the TARGET TV is probably a better deal.
As long as you do not have to deal with Tempo or YALE PRIMA, go for the Target TV.

        • Deals were merged & old deal unexpired as suggested - so that info is useful. Best to list stores for those interested.

Sold out very quickly at some stores Stock may be consolidated at a store - moved from stores where few remain. Aldi have had so many UHD models in sales recently - probably saturating the market for their customers in some areas.

Have been good reports on OzBargain, Whirlpool & review of recent UHD models.

I have consulted on quality control issues with Tempo in the past. Lets just say - lots of criticism of after sales service in Whirlpool forums.
