Mate of mine said there was heaps of stock from what he could tell, he has 10 in stock at Garden City, QLD for reference.

Looks like my wife's getting a Porsche this Christmas!

  • +4

    Free seat upgrade?

  • +2

At the very least you can say you bought a Porsche for yourself for Christmas….

  • +2

This is a totally noob question but what makes Lego deals so popular? Is it because they're limited editions that go up in value?

    • They are like collector items similar to Swarovski collections.. Essentially a hobby for adults.

    • All the good Lego sets are ridiculously exepensive eg large Technic and Star Wars sets plus the modular city building sets.

So when their prices drop Lego collectors pounce!

    • ahh I see, thanks guys!

    • +1

Yeah, with so many of this deal, I think every OzBargainers would have owned this LEGO Porsche by now. Actually every one except me as I refuse to pay LEGO's expensive prices.

    • Normal price is $499.00

  • Already got two, but bought another. Damn you OzBargain!

    • why would you need three?

      • +9

To re sell and make nothing because every man and his dog has the idea

        • At least eBay makes a profit on it ;)

  • I was about to post this, bought Helicarrier, there are heaps of stock in Forest Hill, but better to call in advance

  • +4

What are the chances of them throwing in some free floor mats?

  • Do they have any Ferrari sets?

    • Well for sure tell every Lego fan who comes here to see the deal your negative opinion on Lego why don't ya?

  • must…resist…

    • I've stockpiled a few too many sets.

  • +6

If you live in Canberra and want one, make sure you travel down to Hyperdome and buy 3 x $100 gift cards to get $60 extra in gift cards. One of the gift cards will cover the $18. Then spoil yourself by buying other random goodies with the leftover $42.

Make sure the Big W has Porches available otherwise it will be a wasted trip.

    • Just heard from a friend that Hyperdome have sold out of gift cards so this wont work anymore.

  • Ran out of steeply disscounted wish gift cards so pricematched at TRU instead (failed to pricematch at Myer) and paid with Ultimate Kids Gift Cards.

    • How many Porsches have you got now?

      • 6 so far

        • Bought 2 (John Lewis + Big W last deal), felt spent too much already

        • @rartelif: Yes, I understand how you feel..

    • Which TRU did you go to in Vic?

      • Chaddy

        • Thanks, if anyone in Victoria is looking for stock, I just picked up two from south Yarra big w. It wasn't on display had to ask the staff which said it's all in their storage at the back.

  • $319.20 from Target?
    https://pricehipster.com/product/07j9RIDA-NtwTkH1ZqqDDw~B1aC…

(Doesn't appear to be available any more though)

    • -1

Price Hipster doesn't seem to update if the item isn't available online when the price changes but it is $399 from Target at the moment.

      • It's true that if the product is no longer on the Target website then Price Hipster cannot find it, but from that link provided by WaywardOne it seems the product is still there and the price is correct. Maybe you caught it just before an update?

        • A different example is the price changes for Titanfall 2 at Target

          Price Hipster shows:
          26-11-2016 $36
          07-12-2016 $39

          But the price changes were
          25-11-2016 $36
          29-11-2016 $79
          05-12-2016 $39

        • @durd0008: What's your source for the second lot of price changes?

        • @jazoom:
I also have a piece of code which monitors prices on the Target website.

        • @durd0008: Okay.

    • That is old, I think I got the last one in Victoria 2 weeks ago. At least that is wht head office told me when I chased them up on it.

  • How can I pay with multiple gift cards? Or multiple methods.

  • Cheers OP, grabbed two of the Ghostbuster Fire stations :)

  • Confirmed, grabbed one of these so I can build when I'm knocked out for six weeks next year :)

The Bucket Excavator is also $300, but store I was at didn't have stock.

  • +2

Thanks… Wife has her Christmas present sorted for me now!

    • +1

      Hey that's my trick!

  • +1

    There is a delivery fee

  • +1

i scoffed at this at first but after looking at the model it looks amazing

  • I just can't get past the fact that the gearbox doesn't work properly.
I'd buy one but it'd bother me forever.

  • Lego is so expensive now… How many pieces are there and how long does it take to put this together?

    • +1

      2704 pieces in this set

  • +4

At least you won't have to see the provocatively dressed woman trying to sell you paint protection when you buy this.

  • I notice this 'deal' is butted up to one for Jim's Jerky .. says it all really .. :-) .. !!

  • out of stock

  • my colleague just said this is a collectable item (if I don't open the box). is this true? do people collect legos and not open them?

    • +5

People collect all sorts of crazy pointless shit. I'd wanna build this and play with it…but people are buying 6 and the market is saturated with re sellers so they'll have to offload 5 at a loss coz their cc payment is due.

If your friend and everyone is telling you it's a collectors item then it's not going to be worth much because everyone's buying it with this in mind. Kind of like people buying stocks in a bull market coz it's a sure thing.

I'll bet $20 that a Lego brick bank will be worth more than this in the future

      • -1

Porsches go for $450 and Ghostbusters go upwards of $550 all the time after these types of sales on Ebay, hardly selling at a loss.

Unless they make the Porsche in a different colour in a few years, I can't see any reason why they'll not rise steadily in price. That Porsche 911 set is a masterpiece.

        • +1

Looked at the sold listings. Most offering free or subsidised postage at $450 and there's heaps going cheaper than that. So eBay take their approx $45, paypal will take $10, postage is probably like $25 at the cheap end. Yep, real big profit.

        • -2

@jenkemjunkie: He never said they were selling at a profit. He said they weren't selling at a loss, and you proved it. $450-($45-$10-$25) = $370. These were selling for $318.40. So yes, he is right. Roughly $50 profit at this current point in time, hardly a loss.

        • -2

          @crs:

          herp derrrrrrpppp

    • +2

Some people buy a real GT3 and just drive it to and from work.
Some people are more concerned with resale value than enjoying an experience.

  • Out of stock online.

  • this price already has the 20% toys sale off it already

  • Out of stock online. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • +3

I went an bought one about an hour ago LOL! Checkout chick loved that I had a Porsche and dropped mad dollars on it like it ain't no thang, might take her to nandos. Anyway, gonna build it and make car sounds with my mouth and push it around!

Gotta learn the Porsche sound. I'm really good at doing the RX-7 Rotor Brapppppppin sound so should pick it up pretty quick. It's like being bilingual but with making car sounds. That's what I heard on car forums.

    • Funny Kent hahaha that rota tho

  • If anyone in WA is looking I saw a few at the entrance of the Midland store!

This toy sells $680 in China.

  • So is this available in stores? or is it gonesky???

    • My gut feel, you will have a much better chance of getting a stock in-store this time round because:

      1. The stores seem to be much better stocked than last time, and;

      2. Most stores have limited purchases to say 1 per customer.

Best to give a store a call to hold one for you before you head down to one.

  • I bought one in store today from merrylands.

I called head office for stock levels and they gave me a list and quantity at stores.

    Top Ryde x 3

    Winston hills x 5

    Campsie x 2

    Merry lands x 2 Christian

They told me to call stores and mention 'Key code - 519682'

Head office phone number is 1300244999 for those interested.

    • I wish someone would do this for Victoria
Or that I had time to chase this up during the working week

  • Target is doing 20% off lego, just bought one via Target online (free home delivery or C&C) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/281812

  • +1

Just an update to this, I placed an order on the day this was posted and just received an email from Big W saying that have refunded the purchase as they are out of stock :(

    • I had this too, Big W's online system is a joke.
