Save a further 15% off sale items using 9341222589289. Sewing machines are meant to be excluded but it works, tried it in cart. Comes down to $84.15. Pity the $40 off $100 coupon is expired though.

    $8.99 delivery it seems.

Not bad. I got mine online for $89 a couple of years ago.

Is it good for a beginner? I have been thinking about buying a cheaper one on sale, and learn how to do small stuff like resizing shirts, and doing hems etc for a while. It isn't that cheap going to alteration places for just cutting the length of a shirt anyway, so why not just buy a machine and learn how to do it myself from all the tutorial videos on YouTube, or even take some classes.

      • an overlocker might be better for alternations to give that pro finish.

        • I really don't don't anything about sewing machines, let alone what an overlocker is, hence why I am interested in a machine suitable for a beginner. Is overlocking an advanced level technique, and any affordable machines you can recommend, that can do that overlocking?

        • +1

@AussieDaddy: for a beginner this is a good place to start, something like this would be all you get in a home ec class. the overlocker just pros it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overlock

This is a good beginner level machine. It doesn't have very many stitch styles, but you don't really need them for a beginner. Hemming skirts/pants is exactly why I bought the machine. It was costing me $20/pair just to hem! I have an overlocker too, but it is a pain and far more expensive. If you are a total beginner, I think this Elna machine will more than do. It just might take you a little longer as you need to fold and iron the hems more before sewing.

        • Ta. Appreciate the help.

      • AussieDaddy, I'm thinking this is probably as good as you will get for a beginner machine - a far better option than brother in this price range.

        • Thanks, mate. Will grab one.

        • How is it compare with the Brother low end one?

        • @superforever: Likely to be more reliable. Low end brothers can be problematic. They are probably fine for simple repairs etc but if you wanted to do more than that the elna would be the better buy.

  • Thank you so much!

My mom was asking me to check sewing machines' prices. Bought one! with the 15%OFF barcode.

  • I wasn't so lucky with that 15% off coz when I paid it at the register, the staff said I cannot use this coupon for sewing machine. My suggestion is if you buy it in store and want to us the 15% off coupon, go and use self served register.

    • if you buy it in store and want to us the 15% off coupon, go and use self served register.

Did you try self served ?

Because it will still need approved from staff.

    • Do they have self-service checkouts at Spotlight? I think I have been inside any of their stores once long time ago.

      • Not every store, the newer one at Castle Hills have self served but when I scanned the 15% off barcode it asked for staff to approve it.

        • I see. So did they approve it for you, or they rejected it?

        • @AussieDaddy:

I mean when I bought something else.

I am still asking my wife whether she wants it. I am not sure how is it compare with Brother.

  • Hi,
I have just checked its showing me $249 ? May i know if anyone has used it .

    Thnx

    • Expired.

    • back on $99 today

      • 15% off code doesn't work anymore on it though :(

        • +1

strange I just used it tonight

        • @wei13:

my bad, it does still work. i missed one digit in the code ^^

  • Bought one rug (19$) from Bondi Store along with Elna EL2000 sewing machine which was discounted in store at 99$ in store while stock last along with 15% off total transaction. Total cost 100.30$. They had about 8 left. You can call and reserve and pick them up. Thats what I did.

    • So you can use 15% in store.

      • +1

It's odd that people who say they bought it with the 15% discount in a store won't answer this question. First WinterWhite above, and now ashftc. lol

Will try my nearest store tomorrow. If they say no then I will leave it and buy it online, as that will be cheaper even with the delivery cost, after the 15% discount is applied.

        • +1

Oh indeed I did. The person on sewing machine counter said code does not apply on sewing machine but then the lady on check out applied it. No hassle at all.

        • +1

@ashftc: Thanks. I also managed to have it applied in store last week.

        • @AussieDaddy:

To be honest, it really depends on the person at the other side.

  • The deal is still on until the 24th.

  • To answer the question above, picked this up today in store using the 15% off no dramas. I was also getting a couple of other items though, and it was near closing so may just depend on who is on the register.

  • +1

Yet another OZB addition to the list of items I never thought I'll own !

I can confirm you can check-out at a normal register with the 15% code at Bondi Junction. I printed it and she had to type it in. She also asked for my spotlight member's card and typed it in too.
There were about 9 of them (possibly more) left at Bondi around closing time tonight.

    • Tried it today at Castle Hills they refused 15% off.

      • Seems that it depends on luck. I've just bought one from the Albert Park store in Adelaide just 8 minutes before closing time this evening, and the young lady at the checkout desk entered the code into the checkout computer and applied the 15% discount with no problem at all. If you haven't bought it yet, try another store. And if the other stores are far away, and you haven't got a VIP account with them (it's free to create), create one and they'll email you a $10 discount towards your first purchase to your email straight away (better than nothing). And don't forget that this sale will end tomorrow, unless they decide to extend it.

  • Can anyone recommend a good table for this sewing machine? I only have two tables, a tall one for my PC and a small coffee table. Would like to know if anyone bought one (or has one) for this, or any other sewing machine that I should buy. Will probably see if IKEA has anything for the job tomorrow.

  • Ordered one to be delivered, $8.99 shipping, +15% off= Total $93.14

They sent a $10 "Welcome Voucher" code for joining their VIP club, AUSU2016, I didn't notice the email/code until after I placed the order so I'm not sure if it can be stacked with the 15% off…

    • Can't stack 2 codes, I tried but couldn't. Then I picked up from store today for 89.0$ using welcome email code.
