        Working…but getting underpaid

  • +1

Is it worth the hassle when you can use Wish cards for 5% off and then 4c off per litre for Woolworths shop??

Effective petrol price is the same as above in Melbourne.

I looked into this before the post and decided it was almost the same as doing the above.

    But each to their own.

    • +2

If you do what you said:
Using one of the prices listed here - P98 (126.7)
      126.7 x 5% = 6.33 cts per Liter + 4cts.
Total saving of 10.33cts per Liter or if you prefer you will pay each liter 116.4cts

      • answer ~same, but calc should 126.7c-4c = 122.7c x 0.95 = 116.6c/l

Melb will drop next week for the start of the school hols, probably stay down until the new year & then back up

        • I hope so, but I doubt it.

      • -1

For the 4 cts part, you forgot to calculate how much you paid to Woolworths for getting that voucher.
Consider the opportunity cost for not buying from Aldi.

        • +1

          I paid Woolies $30 for my Opal top-up. $28.50 to be exact with a 5% egift :)
Aldi doesn't sell Opal cards or discounted egift vouchers.

      • Which Woolworths had P98 for 126.7 before discount? In Melbourne it is over 140?

    • +1

Worth it considering Melbourne has around a 40 day cycle these days.
      https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/petrol-diesel-lpg/petrol-p…

I've been saving anywhere between 8-17% compared to the price advertised locally depending on where in the cycle we are at.

  • Sorry OP but the fake GPS and 7 Eleven app just don't work together (at least not for me.

    • play around a bit, if you got an s6 or up it can work

      • I am trying with Nexus tablet :)

BTW, I liked your other idea of finding a lock-price buddy in other cities.

        • Keep closing and opening both apps

It worked for me in third try

  • +17

To prevent the developer from closing this loophole, shall we use 8-12 instead of 7-11 in the discussion?

    • +3

That's one of the reasons why I thought this hadn't been posted before.. kinda like a secret nod.

      • +5

haha I was thinking the same thing.
I've been doing this for the last few months now and most of the time I don't pay over 105

        • +1

How do you find the cheapest price?

        • +2

          @sween64:
Been using the MotorMouth app and just search around Australia… there's probably an easier way, but it's been working for me so far.

      • Yeah same here.. This won't last long now

  • +1

Save myself about 10ct per little for me. Thanks guy

  • After a few attempts, finally got it to lock into Bakkers Marsh. But then got a quebec error, try again later

  • +1

Too hard. Try all different things and still can't get this work. Will stick to local mobil station and claim 4c rebate at IGA.

    S7 edge with Android 6.01

    Steps I took.
1.Thanks to ciggy, Download this apk: http://fakegps-free.en.uptodown.com/android

2.Enable mock locations and choose fakegps

3.Enter the latitude and longitude provided by flashman for that sweet 108.7 price. -33.274360,151.429255. Press the play button

4.Go onto your 7 eleven app and press look for price. It will come up with a mock locations error.

    5.Close down all your applications.

6.Open up the 7 eleven app. Lock in price - it should detect the new 'fake' location.

    7.Profit.

    Hope this helps :)

    • thanks, got 126.7 for 98! my rex running dry after the weekend ;)

it didn't work with other spoofers until I downloaded the one in that link.

    • +1 just for your courage to risk your expensive s7 edge.

      • Risk?

  • 114.9 isn't exactly cheap for unleaded…

    • Cheaper than the current 117.9 for that e10 crap.

      • +1

Depends where you are, OP did not specify. For example, I filled up with 91 this morning for 113.7 at Caltex. I'm sure it would be cheaper in major cities.

        • -1

I'm sure it would be cheaper in major cities.

Wouldn't it be more expensive in major cities?
It's always cheaper on the outskirts of the cities.. not in CBDs.

        • @cwongtech: By "major cities", I was referring to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, etc. as a whole, as opposed to regional areas or smaller cities where there is less competition and generally higher prices. I filled up in Canberra, which is allegedly 8c/L more than the major cities.

        • +1

136.9 on the gold coast since friday. Must be school holidays??

        • @victorwilson:
          Oh okay
          So Metro vs Regional then.
          That makes sense.

    • my local price is $1.38, so its not bad. i still have a lock in for $1.05 so very decent

  • is there an app for ios to spoof location?

    • Only if you're jailbroken.

    • Yeah I use LocationFaker

  • nope doesn't seems to be working. Still Mock location error ;)

    • +1

What phone you on? And droid version? Flick me an inbox

      • got it working yehhh, Thanks Mate!

        • How you got it working, which android version and phone you are using?

  • Lol does america have 7/11 and the app maybe able to get it by the gallon at that price :))))))

  • +2

Not gonna do it but just + for these kind of posts.

  • Question to someone who has filled up diesel at 7 eleven using the price lock, do they match the price of normal diesel or premium diesel.

  • This is a lot of effort for avarage saving of $4

    • +5

      20c discount on a 150l tank = $30 so worthwhile for me

      • I stand corrected then haha

      • Does your tank take standard unleaded?

        • +1

          Yes, and its tanks, 87 + 72 = 159 liters

        • +3

@vbl: Tanks for the info :)

  • I restarted the phone and it suddenly worked.

You have to be quick as it located the mock location on the 711 app before the black 'fake location engaged' sign showed up

  • +1

    Costco Moorabbin Airport currently $110.7

    • How much is membership?

      • +1

$55 per year (business) $60 consumer

        • And you can cancel at the end of the year and get $55 (business)/$60 back…

        • @tg: But then you can't apply again for how long? 3 months?

    • $110.70 is to dear for me, is it Rocket Fuel?

      • Oh dear it is nuclear fuel

    • Being a costco member I don't have to worry about stuffing around with GPS hacks :), but nice for the non-Costco members

Edit: also people talking about theft, look at the prices at Costco and 7-11 even with GPS hack, costco is cheaper again… then again 7-11 have to pay back all the wages its ripped off from its staff… Now thats real theft!!!

Is there any way to run the 7 eleven app on a rooted device. it just stops working and i get a message that the device is rooted.

    • +1

My friend got Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and he got the same issue as you - "the device is rooted" message from 8-12 application.
I asked him to revert back from ver 1.0.5 to ver 1.0.4 for 8-12 application and no more "the device is rooted" message.

  • +1

Weird, I use to get the no spoofing error when they first released the app.

Now it works without error on my Samsung S6

  • -5

Ah the good 'ol OzTheft. Why don't you include instructions on how to detract the employee while you steal Slupees (which only cost the company 0.000000000005c/L) while your at it. They steal from their employees so we should be able to steal from them amirite? Lolololol

    /s

    • +5

Well it's more like pricematching another 7/11.. 200km away.
      I wouldn't call it OzTheft.
Just I-would-like-a-price-match for 7/11 Wagga Wagga when you're in Sydney.

    • slurpee cups cost more than slurpee

    • To be fair smeg, 7/11 doesn't really have a moral or ethical foot to stand on here.

      • +1

So why stoop down to their level?

  • +7

Shouldn't of posted this OP. Expect it to be patched in a few hours.

    • Does it even work? Keeps saying mock location is enabled.
I don't know how OP is doing it.

      • what's your GPS location setting? GPS or GPS+wifi+mobile network?

        • Which should be used? Its not working for me, using older 1.0.4 apk.

    • But if he didn't post it how would we of known?

    • +3

I have a second trick up my sleeves should this one stop working. See how we go

      • message? :D

    • still going strong fyi

  • Best diesel price in Aus?

  • hmmmm

    Can't get it to work.

When I select Mock Location App, I have the following options:
    - No apps
    - Contacts
    - FakeGPS
    - Messages.

    I then select FakeGPS.

However it then selects '7-Eleven Fuel'

    Samsung Galaxy S7, Android 6.0.1

    • Thats what it says on mine too … just leave it on 7-Eleven Fuel and go back to GPS app and click play

      • Unfortunately, it doesn't work even when closing down all the apps.

It did work once when testing it once, then never worked again.

  • +8

For the benefit of those who don't see the problem here.

As an individual, you are almost free to do whatever you want against the T&Cs without worrying too much other than having your accounts being closed. It is certainly not worthwhile to pursue a lawsuit against an individual user.

However, if the post here leads to significant loss for 7-11, the franchisor may have an incentive to sue the OP and Ozbargain for damages due to abetment. Regardless of whether this can be successful, I am sure that's unwanted troubles and most users here don't want to see the site being hurt.

    • +3

Let the mods decide. It's been reported.

    • +3

7 11 should stop selling fuel to avoid such issue in the first place.

    • Let's make abetment on the outcome.

    • LOL. Highly unlikely.

  • +1

17 reports for illegal. Wow ozbagainers do care but then again the 64 +ve votes wins. ;d
