Should I Live in Yeerongpilly or Coorparoo? (Brisbane)

I have been accepted to rent at two places, one in Yeerongpilly and one in Coorparoo.

Both are almost exactly the same in every respect. All else being equal, where would you prefer to live?

I'm from the north side so have no idea about the south side.

Coorparoo, Because I will live near you and we can hang out ;)

Yeerongpilly, because you'll be stalked by this guy if you don't.

  • I would definitely prefer to live in Coorparoo, but then I have never lived in Yeerongpilly but have lived in Coorparoo twice for a total of 6 years.

What you need to consider is proximity to shops, can you walk to the shop, train station, buses (all of this is excellent in Coorparoo, no idea about Yeerongpilly).

Will parking be a problem? In Coorparoo on some of the streets with lots of units on street parking is a nightmare (normally only a problem for people visiting you).

  • Definitely Coorparoo. Much cooler in summer, great aspect for the afternoon north-east seabreeze. Been in Camp Hill 17 years, can give a solid thumbs up to the area.

    • This is a glowing recommendation, unfortunately had made the decision for Yeerongpilly just beforehand. We will be on the river so there should be a cool breeze in the evening though.

  • Better NOMS in Coorparoo. Definitely NOM Central

  • which one is closer to work?

Both ~35 mins on PT and 15 minutes motorcycling. I ended up going with Yeerongpilly as it has ducted AC, fans in every room, Cable internet available and instant electric hot water (rather than one of those copper storage cylinders).

Also Yeerongpilly PT via train while Coorparoo PT was via buses, and I prefer the train.
